*******************It was a mere five minutes after Kate had been joking about 'eating the two of them' when the boys started to notice that that would soon become a very real possibility.
Sam and Dean were packing the necessary items to obtain the blood they needed for the cure, when they began to hear quiet sobs from the bed their sister occupied,
"Katey? You okay there, kiddo?" Dean asked, deeply concerned for the girls wellbeing.
"It's hurts so bad, De. It hurts."
"What does, sweetheart?" He questioned, now kneeling in front of her and beckoning Sam over from where he stood on the other side of the room.
"My head, my stomach, my limbs. Everything hur- gAhhhh." The grunt of pain Kate released sent both Sam and Dean jumping back slightly in surprise.
She clenched her eyes shut tight as if she had the worst headache in the world and fisted her hands in her blonde hair that in some places was matted down with blood.
All too suddenly for either brother to comprehend, Kate's eyes shot open; the once gorgeously soft green that the boys had fallen in love when she was born all those years ago was now a sickening shade of yellow.
Flashing the sharpened teeth that now protruded from her gums, the young girl was practically drooling as she looked upon what she now considered nothing but food,
"Kate... it's us, Sam and Dean. Baby, you know us." Dean said as he began to slowly step back, motioning for Sam to do the same.
Not being affected at all by the small amount of space put between them, Kate leapt onto the closest target which in this case happened to be Dean.
She quickly slashed at his chest as he struggled against her, she only managed to do a small amount of damage, however, as Sam (not knowing what else to do) grabbed the gun he always kept in his waistband and hit Kate over the back of the head, sending her sprawling unconscious onto the motel floor.
"Jesus, ugh," Dean grumbled, as he slowly stood up again,
"You okay?" Sam asked, giving his brothers chest a once over before looking back down at the girl out cold at his feet.
"Yeah, I'm good. She needs that cure. Now."
****************
After briefly discussing their plan, Sam grabbed four lengths of rope from the impalas trunk and secured Kate's limbs to the same bed she sat on minutes before.
Dean had raced off in the car to get the blood necessary to (hopefully) save their sisters life and not end it. This left Sam alone with Kate, he could only hope she would stay out until Dean returned.
***************
Luckily by whatever form of mercy that's exactly what happened, she did stay unconscious until Dean arrived back, however, as soon as he entered the room, with the blood filled syringe she shot up in bed.
The only thing holding her back from another attack we're the restraints, her sudden movements caused Sam to step back in shock.
"It's okay Sam," Dean stated reassuringly, "we'll have her back to normal in no time."
Trying his best to ignore his sisters awful growls and guttural snarls, Sam questioned, "Are you sure about this, Dean?"
"Not at all, but you got a better plan?" Not expecting an answer, Dean began to slowly creep towards her as if Kate wasn't already staring directly at him as if she was a dog and he was a raw steak.
"Kid, I need you to listen to me," he said still getting closer, "if you can hear me, this is gonna hurt like hell. But you gotta hang in there you got it?"
Not wasting a second more Dean jumped forward, grabbed Kates chin and forced her head to side before stabbing the needle in her neck and deploying the plunger.
Immediately after he did, she seemed to calm for the briefest of moments before releasing a scream so primal, so loud; that if they weren't in a 1 star motel the brothers would have feared the police would be knocking on their door, suspecting a gruesome murder.
***************
For more than half an hour Kate continued to thrash, scream and groan as if her blood was on fire, her arms and legs moved so wildly against the rope holding her to the bed that burns had begun to form and her wrists and ankles were bleeding.
"Dean we have to stop it, it's killing her we have to stop it!' Sam shouted in anguish, hating seeing his sister In pain like this.
"We can't! Sam stop!" Dean yelled In response, grabbing Sams wrists as he began to cry and tried to undo Kate's bonds,
"Stop! look." Dean said once again in a somewhat calmer tone this time, Sam did as he was told and looked down at the girl who was finally unconscious once again.
Unconscious, but alive. Breathing.
Albeit they were small breaths, but small were better than none in any case.
As her claws retracted back into her cuticles and her teeth did the same in her gums, Sam once again began undoing the bonds and this time Dean helped him.
Once the rope was gone, both brothers began to softly try and coax Kate back into consciousness by whispering assurances.
When they succeeded, when her eyelids fluttered and revealed the green iris' below that Dean loved, oh so much, when she looked at the both of them and gave them a tired, but loving smile that was all it took for Sam and Dean to scoop her up in the tightest hug each could muster.
All three sighed in content, feeling safe in one another's arms.
After a moment of silence Dean attempted a joke, "Hunt wasn't as simple as you though it'd be after all, huh Katey?"
"Dean. I'll kick your ass."
