After arriving back in the motel parking lot, both Sam and Dean made an instant scramble to get Kate safely inside.

Pulling open the back door and taking in his sisters pale face and shaking hands Dean ordered, "Get her inside as quick as you can Sammy, I'm gonna run ahead and unlock the room."

Immediately following Deans instructions, not wasting a second; Sam softly removed Kate's head from his lap and placed it on the seat below, running to the other side of the car: he helped her sit up and exit the car, supporting almost all of her weight as she wrapped her arm around his neck and stumbled inside.

Dean had already set up one of the beds with blankets, the first aid kit and a bottle of whiskey beside it.

                                  *************

Once the worst of it was over, the bite was stitched, Kate had fallen asleep on the bed, trying to get as much rest as she could after being exhausted from the whole ordeal. Sam was pacing which dragged Deans attention away from the lore he was reading up on.

"What the hell, Sam? You keep pacing you'll put a hole in the floor. Why you worrying so much?" Dean asked in an almost completely relaxed tone that most definitely didn't suit the situation.

"Why am I- Are you kidding?" Sam replied, incredulous to the fact that his brother was so nonchalant about the situation.

"Kate's been bitten and we have absolutely no idea where to start with the cure, that's if there even is one; we don't have a clue when she'll turn or how she'll act when she does and-" Sam cut himself off when his voice began to grow louder and he saw Kate stir in bed, his voice dropped to a whisper,

"I don't know what to do man, for the first time in years of hunting, I've got no clue."

Dean hadn't seen Sam look this vulnerable in a long time but he definitely understood why because, whilst he was acting seemingly fine, all that was on his mind at the moment was what his recently deceased dad had drilled into his mind from the moment he was able to understand basic instructions,

"Watch out for Sammy and Kate," John would say, and Dean had always done his best to do so. However there were times like this, only on very rare occasions, when Dean couldn't keep them safe, when he'd fail, and by God he felt like a failure right now.

"I know Sammy, and I get it, believe me I do. But you're the one always putting on your mum voice and telling me that 'WoRrYinG wOnT maKe thE SiTuaTioN aNy BetTer,'" Sam gave Dean the classic bitch face at the sarcasm his brother had used;

"So let's knuckle down and find this cure, ok? Kate's gonna be just fine, I'll make sure of it."

"I know you will Dean, and I know we'll find that cure, but I'm gonna say it for the last time if you keep calling me Sammy I'll kick your ass."

"Sure you will, Bitch."

"Jerk."

About 12 cups of coffee between the two of them and 2 hours later, Sam believed he had finally found something.

"Dean check this out," swinging his laptop around on the small motel table for his brother to see, Sams laptop had a page opened, a snippet from a documented experiment a few years before,

"So apparently there is a cure for being turned, uh, this experiment was performed years ago by these guys called the 'British Men of Letters' all you need is the blood of the sire wolf," Sam explained, and turned his computer back to face himself.

"Ok, that's easy we just gotta head back to the house and collect some of the furry bastards blood, yeah?"

"Uh yeah, I guess." Sam said, suddenly seeming unsure about the situation,

"What is it Sam?"

"Nothing just-" he let out a sigh of disappointment, "When these British guys conducted the experiment they tested it on multiple mice, and it worked fine but when they moved on and tested it on a human subject the man died in agonising pain."

"Well that's not gonna happen."

"I know. We'll have to find another way to fix her, keep lookin-"

"No Sammy, I mean she's not gonna die. I won't let her. Kate's tough as nails, we raised her to be."

"Damn right you did," came the slightly raspy response from the corner of the room, alerting the boys she was awake, "Now go get me that cure before I turn and eat the both of you."

When the brothers gave Kate a mostly disapproving but also somewhat scared look she gave them a sheepish smile, giggled and then shrugged.

"Kidding... kinda."
