The girls were all seated around a table, accompanying each other at a small restaurant not far out of town.
It had been a little over two weeks since the successful surgery, and Lisa was still amazed by everything around her. She didn't think it would ever stop though. Every single day waking up for her felt like a blessing, and she was so grateful for it.
By now she knew most of the colors, but there were still some that she easily mixed up. It was mostly the in-between colors like turquoise with aqua, and magenta with fuschia.
"What do you want to drink Lis?" Chaeyoung asked her as she was seated next to her. The Thai girl thought for a moment before licking her lips and smiling, "uh... Is there Sprite? I'd like sprite."
Chaeyoung quickly scanned over the menu and grinned, "There is. I can order you that."
Lisa hummed and leaned her head on her friend's shoulder, closing her eyes and breathing out a sigh.
While she now was able to see, she never learned how to read or to write. This made her unable to do either of them. This was quite frustrating for her. Jisoo did teach her the alphabets son again, that she had forgotten over the course of the years, and started with helping her. She managed to learn the five vowels and how they were written, but the other twenty-one letters of the alphabet were still a challenge. She didn't know them yet.
"When are you starting your lessons Lili?" Jennie asked her while she herself was reading through the menu. "Next week Monday." She mumbled and started to fiddle with the bracelet that was dangling from her thin wrist.
"Aren't you excited?" Jisoo questioned when she saw the slight somber mood that Lisa had slipped into.
The Thai girl sighed, sitting up while opening her eyes, "I am... I just- It's tiring to not be able to read. I can finally see but I am still dependant on everyone. I just can't wait to read but I'm scared that I'm not going to be good at learning it. What if it takes me years?"
Jennie reached over and squeezed Lisa's hand, "I'm sure you will be able to read in no time. You know how to read Thai, Korean and English braille Lis. That is fucking amazing. If you have been able to learn those languages by your fingers and sounds around you, what makes you think that you won't be able to do it with a different sense? You're a very smart sweetheart. Don't worry about it."
Lisa her face flushed red and her lips curled up into a wide smile, "Nini... Thank you. I love you guys so much..."
Half a minute later a young waitress came and smiled at the girls "good afternoon young ladies! My name is Stacy and I will be your waitress for today!" She grinned widely and tapped her pen on the clipboard that was in her left hand, "ready to order?" The girls nodded and started to say their orders.
"You're so good at Korean!" Jisoo complimented the girl, as she could hear that she wasn't a native Korean, making her grin widely, "Ah thank you! I've been living here for maybe four years now... Moved from the US to here."
She continued before landing on Lisa.
"What about you miss with the beautiful eyes?" she grinned while looking at Lisa. The girl looked oblivious around before she noticed that all eyes at the table were on her.
"M-me?" She stuttered and blushed embarrassed as their waitress nodded. "Uh... I'll just take sushi--" she pointed at the picture, "--and some sprite...".
She trailed off, a small frown on her face before nodding deterrent and looked up, "yes, that yeah. Please."
The girls laughed at her cuteness and Stacy grinned slightly as he wrote it down. "It's coming up cuties!"
