"How To Kill A Mockingbird?" Jisoo asked Lisa as she scrolled through her phone. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was pouring rain outside. That's why the two friends were all cuddled up in fuzzy blankets and had a cup of steaming hot tea standing on Jisoo her nightstand.
"Is that the book Chaeyoung has?" Lisa questioned, propped op on her friends bed while playing with Jisoo her dog, Dalgom. He was in the stages of early adulthood but he was still small. He was completely white and had the fluffy fur of what could be mistaken for sheep fur. His ears hung against the side of him which made him extra adorable and a good cuddle buddy.
Lisa giggled slightly as the small dog licked her cheek. It's tongue leaving a wet trail on her face.
"Yeah, it is." Jisoo said, writing the book down in her notebook.
"I would like to read that book yeah." Lisa said with a sad smile, knowing that she couldn't. Dalgom immediately nudged her face with his wet nose, electing a slight squeal from the younger girl. "You're so cute Dalgi." She laughed. Jisoo smirked and wiggled her eyebrows at the list of book titles she had gathered. She twirled the pen in between her fingers and looked at her blind friend.
"Which color is a mocking bird actually? Do we even have them here in Korea?" Lisa questioned after a while. She sat up right, "and can I have my tea please?"
"Gray. And they do. There are mocking birds here. I spotted one when my class and I went bird spotting in the woods" Jisoo answered before she handed Lisa the mug and brought her hand to the handle. Lisa took hold of it and brought the cup to her lips and peaked her tongue out to feel the tea. It was still hot but not hot enough to actually burn her so she started taking small sips.
"But isn't gray a sad color? I've always heard that it is one." She spoke up after she drank a little.
Jisoo didn't have an answer ready for that question. She licked her lips and tapped her pen against her lap. Searching for the right explanation.
"Gray... Gray is like a..." She didn't really know She could say so many things, but would that make sense?
"Life." She eventually finished and nodded to herself, confirming her answer.
Lisa furrowed her eyebrows. "Life?"
"Yes. Life. Life is gray." She stated a bit more sure before continuing her explanation.
"Most people believe that life is black or white. Good or bad. But life isn't one or the other. Its both at the same time. Life is not only good and is not only bad. If you only had black you'd just have bad things. If you only had white you'd just have good things." She took her own cup of tea and drank a little off it before continuing.
"But you wouldn't know that there was goodness if there wasn't any white present. You wouldn't appreciate the good things in life if there were no bad things at all. No black present. We need both black and white in this world. And because we do, the world is gray. It's a mixture of the good and the bad."
It sounded logical to Lisa, but she wasn't completely satisfied yet.
"I get it Chu... But why are some people their life's better or worse than other people their lives? I mean there is always a person who has it better than you and a person who has it worse than you. Why?"
The older girl balanced the mug on her thigh and stirred the liquid quietly with the small spoon. "Because there are different shades of gray. Some people have more white added and other people have more black added in their mixture." She eventually said. She drank the rest of her tea and yawned slightly.
"But that is the beauty of life i guess. Because there are all these different shades the world gets made into a beautiful picture. We all sort of paint the world."
Lisa seemed pleased with that answer and finished her tea, smiling widely. "Okay then. Thank you."
"Do you want some tea more Lis?". The younger girl shook her head and nibbled on her bottom lip, "but.. uh, do you still have some of Jennie her cookies?"
Jisoo laughed and nodded. "Yes I have, would you like some?"
Lisa nodded frantically, "yes please. I already ate all of mine so that would be nice." She grinned.
The older girl chuckled and shook her head amused by her friends eagerness. "Cookie monster." She mumbled and got up, placed her notebook on her desk, before taking Lisa her mug and started to make her way downstairs.
"Don't forget Dalgom his cookies!" The blind girl yelled.
"I won't Lis!" Jisoo yelled before placing the mugs in the sink. She quickly went to the bathroom and released the pee she had been holding for a while already. She just had been too lazy to get up earlier. The bed and blankets were way too comfortable.
After washing her hands she walked into the kitchen again and grabbed her cookie jar. The girl had bought it around two years ago when Jennie kept on bringing her home made cookies and other sweet snacks. This gave her a place to store them all. Walking past her dog's snacks she grabbed the dog cookies from the special animal food cupboard and nudged it closer with her head.
With both her hands full she made her way back upstairs towards her room. She let out a soft cooing sound as she saw that Lisa was half asleep on her bed with Dalgom curled up next to her. She carefully placed the jar and bag on her nightstand before taking her phone and made a picture that she shared in the groups app.
"Don't take a picture of meee!" Lisa grumbled when she heard the soft clicking noise and tried to pull the blanket over her head.
Jisoo let out a soft laugh and sat down on her bed. "Awe come on Lis. You looked so adorable. Such a small baby."
"Jisoo-ya stooop!" Lisa whined and pouted to herself.
The older girl chuckled and slid under the covers and cuddled her friend from the side. Luckily Dalgom was laying on the other side of her friend which left no barrier in between them. She placed a kiss on the back of her friends head and smiled gently.
"The cookies will come later... A nap sounds better now." She whispered making the younger girl let out a soft hum as she felt herself drifting off already.
Soon enough the two girls were asleep all cuddled up to each other.
Outside the rain continued pouring down, making even more peaceful sounds which allowed them to stay asleep for quite a while
But neither of them minded.
