Are you ready?" Jennie whispered and squeezed the Thai girl's hand.
More than a year had passed by and there had been a breakthrough in certain aspects of the medical field.
Lisa laid in room number twenty-seven at the Academic Seoul hospital. She just had undergone surgery and was starting to wake up from her narcosis.
In the past few years, people had done a lot of research and found a method they thought would work on making a blind person see again.
They were able to replace certain parts of the eyes that could be the cause of blindness. Due to this, they found a way to maybe cure chronic blindness. They only problem was, they didn't know if it would work for sure.
That's why Lisa was one of the first people to undergo this hopefully life-changing surgery. She could be one of the first people who had been born blind to get their eyesight fixed. This was a huge step for the blind and partially blind community, as it could change everything for them.
However, there were risks attached to this procedure, which is why they only applied it to completely blind people, as it could cause full eyesight loss if not done correctly or if it didn't work out. And as the Thai girl had nothing to lose, she had signed herself up.
The surgeon, the nurses, Lisa's parents and the three other girls stood around the bed, waiting for the big revelation.
Did it work?
"You can open your eyes now, Lisa." The surgeon said and the girls silently prayed that it had worked. They were holding hands and Chaeyoung was even silently praying in her heart for it to have worked. She wanted the girl to be able to experience the beauty of the world through her own eyes.
Lisa slowly opened her eyes but shut them again immediately. "I- It burns..." She mumbled and brought her hand to her face, the surgeon quickly moving her hand away, "don't touch it Lalisa. Try again."
In the meantime, the nurses had rushed over to the curtains and shut them, leaving the room dimly lit.
The girl slowly opened her eyes again and left them squinting. They felt pretty sore from the operation they had undergone the day before, so opening them further would only hurt her more.
She was met with something she was unfamiliar with. "I..." She slowly blinked and looked around. She saw...
"Oh my god..." She whispered and sat up before blinking rapidly and looked at what she saw, not caring anymore that her eyes hurt.
She could see.
Holy shit;
"I can see you guys..." She whispered.
"Oh my God baby!" Her mother practically yelled and almost crawled on top of her while hugging her tightly. "Umma... Oh my God..." Her face resorted in a big grin and she continued to analyze everything and everyone, "Dad? Jennie and Jisoo and Rosie?"
The blonde-haired girl laughed and shook her head, "I'm Rosie, she is Jisoo."
"Oh my god..." She removed her hand from Jennie's hold and held it in front of her face. "This is my hand..." She mumbled.
She looked up again at her friends before it suddenly became too much and she started to cry.
"This is so amazing. OH my God darling." Her mother cried with her, the others tearing up too. Even the nurses and surgeon had a few droplets rolling down their cheeks.
"T-thank you so much." Lisa's father sniffled gratefully at the staff, who nodded.
"No problem. We too are shocked and extremely happy. She is officially the first blind person that can see now."

Two hours later she was outside and looked around with wide eyes.
They had given her some pain medication and eye droplets and was supposed to go back for a check-up every two days. But besides that, she was allowed to go home. Her parents had to get back to work, so she was left with her three friends, who had decided to take her on a stroll.
"So that's green?" She said while pointing at the leaves on a tree and the girls hummed. "And this is white," Chaeyoung said while pointing at her shirt. "And this is light blue." Jisoo grinned and pointed at the sky. Lisa looked up and admired the beauty of it.
"There are so many different types of each color. This is amazing!"
They laughed at how happy their friend was and nodded, "Yes, different shades. It indeed is amazing."
The girls had gone over all the colors that possibly existed while they had been walking around and were now seated at a picnic bench at the park, nibbling on some snacks.
"Where is the color rainbow?"
"Rainbow?" Jennie questioned a bit confused.
Lisa nodded, "yes, rainbow. I told you about the girl I met in the park, right? Who gave me the dove necklace. Well, she told me that her favorite color is rainbow."
Chaeyoung quickly took out her phone, searched it up, to let Lisa see. In half a minute she held her phone in front of the Thai girl, pictures of rainbows on the screen.
"Rainbow is a collection of multiple colors together Lis..."
She stared at the picture for a while before slowly nodding, taking in the information.
"Then my ultimate favorite color is rainbow too... Because life is a rainbow for me now."
"What do you mean?" Jisoo asked her as she pried off a piece of her chicken and plopped it in her mouth.
"She told me that a rainbow let's you see that it gets better after a huge storm... And storms are dark, you told me that once. And my life has been dark up till now. Now I can see everything and all the colors which means that my rainbow has arrived."
The girls stayed silent for a while before Jennie whispered a "damn..." And Chaeyoung smiled, ruffling Lisa's hair.
"Your mind is amazing..." She whispered.
The Thai girl blushed and looked around at everything and everyone. She was mesmerized by the beauty of the world. She never imagined that it would look like this.
Never in her wildest dreams did she picture the colors as they were.
Never did she picture her friends too look like this. So beautiful.
Never did she picture herself to look the way that she did.
But most of all, she had never pictured a rainbow to look that way. But she found that it did its name justice.
In a weird way, she felt as if she experienced the colors around her still different than her friends. But that was okay, as she could see them now too.
She was in love with colors, as they made everything unique and beautiful.
