I awoke around noon, alone in my bed. August must have left the minute I had fallen asleep. I swallowed back the disappointment, knowing that whatever was happening between the two of us wasn't going to be easy. He had revealed to me that his best friend for centuries was in fact my biological father. It was strange to think of this godlike man, a powerful vampire such as August, would be concerned with the opinion of another.

But then again, I didn't know Dominic Drakos. He might be my father but in reality he felt like nothing more than a myth, just another story in a children's book. I held no memories of him or my mother, Alana, having been a tiny baby when they had left me to flee for their lives.

Anger bubbled inside of me as climbed from my bed and quickly changed my clothes. I needed to talk to Nova and tell him everything that I had found out. He had a right to know just as much as I had; it was his life too after all. I quickly shoved my feet into a pair of sandals and hurried from my room, straight to knock on Nova's door. I wasn't sure that he would be in his room but it was the closest place to check first.

It didn't take long before he opened his door and pushed passed him before he could say a word. The look on his face was a mixture of surprise and confusion as I began to pace, wringing my hands anxiously.

"Nevada, what's wrong?" He asked closing his bedroom door and taking a seat on the edge of his bed.

"So, I found some things out and it's crazy and almost too ridiculous to be true it's like a movie or something but you have to know!" I blurted, the words tumbling quickly from my mouth all in one breath.

"Slow down and breathe, Nev." He said as he stopped my frantic pacing with a hand on my arm. "Calm down and tell me whatever it is."

I took a deep breath and began to recount the events of the previous night, leaving out the more intimate moments between August and I. Those things were irrelevant to the bigger picture and a whole other conversation that I had no idea where to begin. When I was finished, Nova stared at me in stunned silence. His face had lost a bit of its color and his eyes were as wide as saucers.

"Nova?" I asked, knowing everything was a lot to take in. I was still trying to fully process everything myself.

He blinked several times and shook his head, his eyes roaming over my face as he looked at me.

"You're… you're the daughter of Dominic and Alana, the woman he chose over everything." He said, his voice quiet but the words felt like a slap in the face. The unspoken meaning behind that statement caused me to take a step back from the bed.

"It seems so, yes." I answered hesitantly. I let out a surprised squeak as he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me to him before I could register what had happened.

"You're my baby sister."

I smiled and rested my head against his chest as I hugged him back.  That was the silver lining to the madness that August had revealed to me. Nova was more than my best friend; something I had always felt but now seemed to be our true reality. I pulled away and smiled at him as I took a seat on his bed.

"Yep, now you're stuck with me," I chirped happily and he rolled his eyes playfully before joining me.

"Alright let me get this straight. You and I are the key to the prophecy that some Oracle made forever ago and now Torch wants to capture or kill us along with every other creature in the world. Everyone wants us on their side or dead because we are supposedly the most powerful fae in history." He paused and looked at me. "Did I get that right?"

I nodded reluctantly, "Yeah, sounds like the gist of what August told me. It just sounds so insane, doesn't it? I mean, me a powerful fae?"

"It's possible. When we were attacked by those guys Weston and Wyndal, I felt huge power rolling off of you. More than I expected to be honest." He looked at me, his face serious. "The world wants to destroy us, Nevada, and our father left us to fend for ourselves. We have to stick together."
