Elisa's POV I wish Kyle just understood that I didn't want to eat, or drink or do anything. I just wanted to stay in my bed and believe my dad was still here. I wanted him to understand and he doesn't understand that.
I lay in my bed (well Mary's guest bed) just doing nothing. Just staring up at the ceiling.
There's a knock and I ignore it. It's just Kyle. Probably with some tacos.
The door opens and I watch as Kyle walks in. He sits on the bed and looks at me, but says nothing. "What do you want?" I ask.
He sighs and lays next to me, on his side, so he could face me. "It's not about what I want," he whispers. "What do you want?"
"I-I want you to understand," I whisper back, turning onto my side
"Understand what?" He asks, pushing my hair out of my face.
"That I don't want to get out of bed," I say. "That I don't feel like eating."
"I understand," he says. "I went through it too you know."
I frown. "You did?"
He smiles at me. "Have you seen my dad around?"
"I-I didn't know," I say, softly. "When?"
"When I was 13," he says. "He was away with the Air Force. One of his planes got bombed. He was in it."
"I'm so sorry," I say. "Now I feel like a jackass."
He leans in and places a soft kiss on my lips. "It's hard to think about others when your in this state sometimes."
I smile at him. "Your amazing."
"Well you know, I try," he chuckles.
"Have you made the tacos yet?" I ask.
He shakes his head. "Thought maybe we could watch a movie."
"What movie?" I ask.
"You pick," he says. "And I will get snacks."
He jumps out of bed and runs out the door.
I sit up and bite my bottom lip.
I would be okay. Kyle will be here for me
* I walk downstairs the next morning and jump when Kyle jumps out of nowhere. Where are you going?" He asks.
I brighten up and kiss him. "We are going out."
"We are?"
I roll my eyes. "Yes."
"Where?" He asks.
"Out for lunch," I say. "Is that okay?" I ask, timidly.
He nods and pecks me on the lips. "Just give me a minute to change."
He runs upstairs and I sit at the counter. I grab the piece of paper on the counter and read it.
Dear Mrs Henderson, This is to confirm that Kyle Henderson has an appointment with us on the 7th at 3pm. Please contact us if this isn't true
From Disability Check
Disability? Kyle?
I hear footsteps and place the paper back on the counter.
"Let's go," Kyle says, grabbing his keys.
We decided to go to Toni's, because Montana suggested it.
I grab the menu and look through the items. "So many choices," I say. Kyle is quiet and I see his eyes squinting on the paper and him mouthing the words.
It clicks.
Kyle's dyslexic.
"What are you having?" I ask him.
"Uh the steak," he answers. "You?"
"Maybe the Snitzel Burger," I say. "But I don't want any onion rings."
The waitress comes over, smiling at both of us and taking our drinks and food orders. Once she leaves I stand up. "Where are you going?" Kyle asks.
"Bathroom," I answer. I lean down and kiss his cheek, before leaving for the bathroom. I enter and my eyes widen when I see Tiana. "What the hell are you doing here?" I ask out loud.
"I saw you guys enter," she says. "I've been watching."
"Stalker," I mutter.
"You stole Kyle from me," Tiana growls. "He was mine!"
"You and Kyle fucked, that's it," I snap.
"That's what you two are doing right now isn't it?" Tiana asks, crossing her arms.
"Kyle and I actually haven't had sex yet," I mumble.
Tiana bursts out laughing. "Oh of course you haven't. You are such a prude."
I look down at the floor hurt. "I'm not a prude."
"Have you done anything yet?" She asks. "Blowjobs, fingering?"
"We've made out," I mumble.
Tiana smirks and steps closer to me. "I guess he will come back to me then."
She walks away and I look at myself in the mirror.
My brown hair in a ponytail and these stupid glasses. I feel tears brimming and hold them back.
I walk back to the table and Kyle smiles at me. He frowns when I don't smile back. "You okay?"
I nod. "Fine."
He nods. "I was thinking maybe we could go see your dad after this."
"I don't know," I say. "I don't think I'm ready."
He nods and grabs my hand under the table and squeezes it. "Well when you are, tell me and I will come with you."
"Thanks," I say.
Our food comes out and we eat quietly.
Kyle pays like a gentleman and then we walk out of Toni's. I spot Tiana over in the corner spying on us. I look down, to avoid her gaze.
