There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're not meant to be- but that was not the case for Beomgyu. The boy was supposed to be home by now cooking dinner for him and his brother, things hadn't gone as planned.
His bullies Jisung and Felix forced him to stay behind and do their after school chores. They had restroom and library duty. He wasn't complaining though since the two bullies seemed to be more interested in their after school plans they didn't mess with Beomgyu too much. They only shoved him in the lockers and threatened him.
As he continues his lonely walk home, he couldn't help but stare at the friend groups that he passed. Specifically, a group of boys who were standing in front of a vending machine, laughing and shoving each other around.
His whole life he had been an outcast. From a young age, he had been too pretty for a boy. His eyelashes too long, lips too red, skin too pale and fragile, as a result, he was targeted. For a long time he was just left out of everything, picked last for dodge ball, sat alone at lunch, he was the rice ball in the fruit basket. It wasn't until he started high school that the bullying became physical.
Despite the horrible treatment he had endured, Beomgyu believed there was still good in the world. He stayed optimistic and smiled. He put on a brave face and lied to his brother; saying that everything was okay. Sure, he was lonely, but Beomgyu thinks that being alone isn't so bad.
As he was about to cross the street, the motor of a motorcycle roared. Beomgyu was quick and was able to move out of the way in time before the motorcycle hit him. He fell back on the side walk, landing hard and awkwardly on his left side
The driver parked his bike on the side of the road and hopped off his bike and started walking away at a fast pace. He didn't even bother apologizing to Beomgyu for almost killing him.
Our protagonist sees something fall out from behind the guy's pocket- his wallet. He quickly stands up and grabs it and jogs up to the biker. The biker was only speed walking but his long legs made his strides faster and wide.
"Hey excuse me! You dropped this!" The biker turns around, his helmet still covering his head. He looks down at Beomgyu and takes the wallet from him. That's when the blonde-haired boy noticed a strawberry pin on the biker's jacket. The boy quickly reaches into his pocket and pulls out three pieces of strawberry candy and places them in the biker's palm.
His blue watch starts beeping, reminding him that he was supposed to be doing something right now- and that he was late.
"Have a good day!" He smiles so wide that his eyes close, and with a wave, he runs home, leaving the biker to look down at the candy given to him.
...
"I'm home!" He calls out as he rushes inside through the front door. The smoke detector was beeping loud and he quickly stops himself and runs back to the front door- sloppily removing his shoes, and then going to the kitchen. He finds his older brother was standing in front of the stove over a smoking pot. The entire kitchen foggy with smoke and smelled like horrible burned food.
"Oh hey, you were late so I tried to get dinner started" Yoongi smiles apologetically. The alarm still beeping obnoxously loud,
"I'm sorry, I had to do my chores," Beomgyu says while opening windows to clear the smoke.
"I thought you didn't have any today?"
