Some of the (Many) Quotes from Alan Powell
"Perfection is impossible. Failure is inevitable. Don't beat yourself up over these truths."
Joey is not perfect. None of us are. As Alan said we cannot avoid failure. I believe this song was not a failure though. I am not saying my opinion, but I am not saying that it was a failure. If Joey even brought ONE more person to know Christ or closer to Christ by singing this song, isn't it worth it then? You never know how one song could reach out to nonbelievers and lead them to other songs and help lead them to Christ. The PERFECT God might give us moments when they are not "perfect" but if we open our eyes, God turns them into moments that have perfect timing.
"Some days are good. Some days are terrible. Everyday is a gift."
Yes, Anthem Lights has MANY MANY songs that are just completely awesome! And there are those times when some question the band. But the music they give to us is a gift. Music in general is a gift. It's a language that doesn't need a translation. But some take the music differently than others. But to see the true reason we have the music, we need to look past the words, past the melody, past the beat given to us in our ears beating around in our heads.
We need to look past all of that.
"Don't waste your thoughts on things you can't change."
I am not saying forget the solo. The fact that people are saying mean things. I want people to remember that the band has those lightbulbs that United and looked past the words being said. To remember that Joey is an amazing singer. He worked very hard on that video for us. I bet that it is very hard trying to create a music video. The might be pros at making them, but it still can be very hard.
"Don't change who you are for someone else. If they are worth that trouble, they won't want you to change anyway."
Every Lightbulb has loved each of the band members at least once. Caleb (Grimm Shady) is the Lego and coffee lover, Alan (Big Al) is the sweet kind hearted one that gives amazing advice when we need it the most, and he can make us laugh even when we want to be sad. Chad (Graham Cracker, "Chaddish" British speaker, (or what I like to call him) GRAHAMmy winner!!) is always battling the Bro Battles and makes us laugh. He might seem tough sometimes, but I believe he is a big softy. Then there is.... Joey. He is the other green- loving, shopping cart racing, silly face making, Spider-Man loving, God loving, man of many instruments!! What if he changes? Yeah sure that's what some would want, but do they really? Joey is amazing and I personally don't want him to change.
I hope Joey never changes.... If you are a lightbulb than you wouldn't want him to either.
"Godly faith is a fight worth fighting."
"Some people are in your world. Some people are your world."
Before I discovered this band, I was broken, lost, hidden away, I felt I had no hope and I wanted to give up. I wanted to give up in life, and there "were" people that wanted to help, but I would hide. After I discovered this one band, they not only showed me that there is a "light" at the end of a tunnel, but that no matter how dark your life is, God was and is with you always. These five guys WERE my world after they changed mine. I love how much they have touched my world. I will love their music forever. (Can you picture an old lady singing along to their most ridiculous videos? Yes that'll be me!) I can bet that all of you that are "hating" on the band have been changed too, so before you hit "post" reread what you write. It never goes away.... Even if you hit "delete" it'll be in the mind of millions and especially those that it hurts most.
"Humility does not mean thinking little of yourself. It means realizing that you are infinitely valuable........... But no more than anyone else."
