Stop the Hate: Team Joey!

My Note on Secular...

I've been asked multiple times by different people my opinion on "secular music" so I had to look up what that meant for starters. To me from reading other definitions is that it means "non religious" music. Like the music can be about love or just life in general. I feel this music is ok if you don't let it "control" your life. You let God control your life and let Jesus take the wheel.

Little did I know that this kind of music would actually help me be lead to Christ. Yes I did say this. I had a horrible life before I "met" my favorite bands' music. But before I was lead to the holy music I love now, I would listen to their covers. Some of their covers are secular (not all of them but some) and they use these to help lead people to their original music to help lead them to Christ. That is what happened to me.

People ask "why did they do that song?" "Why not just stick with just gospel music?"

I will say that they knew from the beginning when they sang "Just the Way You Are" that they can reach out to people by "drawing" then in with music that is most popular at the time. But to make it so ANYBODY can listen to the song.

I believe that they are brave to do this because they are doing what many Christian Bands don't seem to sing what is popular. This band goes out of their comfort zone to try to reach out to others.

I feel if it wasn't for their covers then most of those Lightbulbs you see that are "Outta their Minds" for this band wouldn't have ever gotten to know them. They wouldn't have ever gotten to know the crazy loving and just plain amazing band that they know and love today.

They have shaped me into who I am today, and I am not afraid to say....

I will stick with this band till the end!
