Ok this is told from the perspective of a new character that will be introduced in a later chapter.......
The banging outside the steel door was repetitive and every couple seconds the large dent in the safe room door got larger and larger. It had been three months since the out break and I had survived in my woodland safe house with my family and a few others we picked up along the way but what happened today was unpredictable. After all this time in the the three months since the infection came, life was almost normal. We had only one problem with infected and they were only running from the cold so they didn't even notice us. The infected had been migrating like birds and that cleared a lot of the country out for looters and surivors. Other than that our lives were easy till today, I was huddled in my safe room of the house with a monstrous creature smashing the door in. Whatever it was it killed Warren and Peter, the survivors we had picked up on the way here. All I saw of it was that it had large bone like hands and a huge body mass, its skin was colored like a crocodile's and its mouth was full of jagged teeth. It smashed our two friends into a paste and now it was trying to get into the the room where my wife, 9 year old child, and myself were hiding.
"Jim I love you." My wife Sarah said to me with tears running down her face.
"I love you too, I love you both so much." I said to Sarah and my son Johnny before wrapping my arms tight around them. The creature screached and slammed into the door again, but shortly after gun shots sounded and the creature roared. Outside the room sounds of concrete being broken and someone yelling not in pain but in anger sounded. Moments later a figure was thrown through the door and through the wall next to where we were huddled together. The creature stood with slash marks and a few bullet holes covering the front side of its body. It started to pull the rest of the metal door frame and I held my family closer and when I heard the frame torn out of its hinges I thought it was over but I looked up to see a man with a tight black t-shirt that fit around his rather skinny but muscled body, with camouflage military style pants and meduim sized black miltary boots, his hair was long and blonde and his right arm was shaped into some large blade made of bone, muscle, and with a sharpened metal edge to the whole thing. He was standing directly in front of us and the creature with his blade infront of him to act as a guard. Who ever this man or thing was it wanted to protect us. In a flash he charged at the creature and so did it. His blade swung down on the creature's advancing blow then the creature swung its other fist at him and he turned his blade sideways showing the length and width the blade really was. The blow hit the man's blade and sent him slinding with his feet still placed on the ground into the wall. The creature raised both of its arms up in an attempt to smash the man but he moved to quickly for it. His blade slashed in a quick motion and cut the creatures horrific head clean off. Its body fell to the ground and shook the house with its impact. I watched as the man's blade arm twisted and shrunk back into a normal form. I stood up and my family did so as well very slowly watching the man who seemed like a super hero. He was stretching on a leather glove on his right hand when he looked over at us then to the hole in the ceiling that led to this room.
"Guys, we have survivors and the goliath is down." He shouted to someone above.
Then moments later three people dropped down into the hall fully armed and wearing suits covered in fake grass. They walked over to the man who saved us and then walked up the hall way towards our house.
The man who saved us approached us and I pulled Johnny and Sarah behind me.
"Sorry about that its ok to be afraid, hell, I'm not even used to my powers yet completely. Anyway just know I am here to help." He said to us.
"Are you a super hero." Johnny asked stepping out from behind my back.
"Huh, that's the first tine someone's called me that, usually when they find out about my ability they either try to kill me or they kick me out." he answered enthusiasticly.
"What do you want with us?" I asked doubting his motives. "People these days only look out for themselves, not strangers."
"Well I'm not like other people, the human race is on the brink of extinction and I just want it to bounce back from this." He answered.
"So what do you want in return I have heard things and the only time someone helps a stranger is for sonething in return." I shot back knowing how bad people were now.
"Look, all we want is a permanent home, we have been moving from place to place for awhile now and I would like a place to live. But I won't force it, like I said I am just here to help, its your choice where we stay or go I have no issue with either choice." He replied sounding genuinely a good person.
"Can we trust you not to hurt us?" I asked making sure his motives were true.
"As long as you don't hurt one of us and no need to worry that some of my people might be bad, I don't take in bad people unless I know they can change like my second in command, he used to be a bandit but I gave him a choice to redeem himself or die half a man." He answered.
"Help us rebuild the damages to the house and you can stay as long as you like." I told him.
"Deal, well I think we should go ahead and start then." He said before he started to walk away into the hall.
"Wait, what's your name before you go." I asked him as he was right underneath the hole in the ceiling.
He turned his head to the left and said," Just call me Tas." Before launching out of the hole into the world above........... ...............
