Phoenix POV:
I was being held in a cage when we got back and honestly, it was the most uncomfortable thing to ever sit in. Adonis had said that this is the consequence for doing what I did and all I did was stay quiet which angered him more before he left. I knew that chase had felt bad for me and at this point, I couldn’t care. I just wanted my family back and it wasn't like he could get them for me so he simply was a nuisance.
“How could you choose to be with the enemy?” Chase said to me as he completely watched my every move.
“I never choose the enemy. Maybe you need to rethink what you've been told by that little boss you have there,” I aid with a menacing tone.
“He's not my boss and he was not the one who killed my mate. Cyrus murdered my mate in cold blood, no mercy was shown towards her. So I could give a flying fuck about Cyrus staying alive,” he yelled in my face.
The way he spoke of Cyrus angered me and made a growl slip from my lips. That flame inside of me quickly grew and boiled my blood to the point of combustion.
"You will watch the way you speak of the King in the presence of his Queen!"
"Bullshit, you are no Queen in my eyes. To me you are just like your barbaric king," Chase says.
“You think that is what happened but that’s not.”
“That is exactly what happened!”
“What you think you know is wrong. I would like to show you if that is alright. Adonis doesn't need to know about this.”
I knew he could tell that I wasn't lying so he decided that he really needed to think about what he knew. As I waited my eyes shifted to black and red, which creeped him out. I looked past him in the direction of the corner to summon my hellhound
“Nadia, come forth.”
Was all I said before in the corner black smoke was coming out presenting a wolf. No not a wolf, a very large hellhound to be exact. She looked at Chase as if he was nothing compared to her and in all honesty, she was.
“I need you to show our friend Chase what had truly happened to his mate,” I chuckled but quickly turned serious.
I gave Nadia some of my power since she is mine since birth and our souls bonded.
“I will get right to it boss lady,” she said with a wolfish smirk.
As she said that I noticed chases widening eyes, I guess she already started. I watched intently as his face morphed into many emotions. Then out of nowhere he dropped to his knees and cried out loud. He must go through this to know the truth because he has been told lies. His cry must have alerted Theresa because after he was done she broke the door in and scanned the room before her eyes landed on chase, nadia, then lastly me. She stood in an offensive position, ready to spill my blood. However, before she could do anything her body also had been dropped to the floor to her knees by Nadia.
Well, this is the perfect opportunity to have her see the truth as well. So I turned to Nadia and gave her a nod to start the process..It's been 30 minutes and Adonis has not been back which meant I was in the clear to continue Chase and Theresa's journey to the truth. I wonder why I had to be the one to go through all of this. What is it about me that makes me so special? Why couldn't I have a different life? Would I want a different life? Why was I given a life of deception and uncertainty like Chase and Theresa? That wouldn't be peaceful or great at all.
“He lied! Oh, I will kill him in the worst ways,” both Chase and Theresa yelled in unison.
“Now you know that not everyone and everything is as it seems,” I said calmly.
The room was starting to get really hot and the walls kept closing in on me. I couldn't breathe, the air burns, my chest feels like it's being shredded like cheese on a grater. “Phoenix, queen of hell, I pledge my life and loyalty to you,” Chase said while jumping onto the ceiling.
“I pledge my love and loyalty to you, Phoenix, queen of hell,” Theresa said afterward while dancing.
Weird because there's no music at all and why is chase on the ceiling. What in the actual fuck is wrong with me? I'm not thinking straight. An image flashes in front of my eyes of Adonis having his nails sunk deep into Cyrus next to his heart. All I could do was scream and that's exactly what I did. I screamed out Cyrus’s name to the heavens hoping he could hear my cry and take away this agonizing pain.It was pulling me down into the darkest depths and the images of Cyrus’s blood spilling and his heart, the one that only beat got me and the kids in the hands of his brother. Adonis stood looming over him with an evil grin plastered onto his face and satisfaction plus a craving for blood shining in his eyes. No, what scared me the most was Cyrus’s lifeless eyes, the same ones that held so much love, passion, and adoration held absolutely nothing at all. They were nothing but hollow orbs that brought a chill to the core and remained in your head like a nightmare.
Oh god, this pain is unbearable, I couldn't stand this. To sit and see the love of my life lay there and not move a muscle was too much. I called out to the darkness and welcomed it, allowing it to take away all of my pain like it has done countless other times.
