Alexandra
I didn't listen as the teacher droned on about God knows what. I grinned when I remembered the previous night. Olivia was my girlfriend! I was so giddy last night and this morning that I didn't bother snapping back at Rowan when he insulted my fashion choices and quality of my homework. "Alexandra!"
I snapped to attention when the teacher called my name. What subject was it? "Yes Mrs?" I asked.
"Can you answer the question on the board?" The teacher asked pointing at the equation on the board, I mentally swore and I felt Jazmine's stare on me from her spot next to me.
"Um," I hesitated, I stared at the question a second longer. "I-I don't know, Mrs, I'm sorry," I say and the class laughed. The teacher raised an eyebrow disapprovingly.
"Pay attention Miss May, I don't appreciate daydreaming in my class."
The teacher turned back to the board and wrote the answer. Jazmine tapped my shoulder and I leaned closer, not taking my eyes off the teacher. "Yeah?" I asked.
"Spill it," Jazmine demanded. "You'll been dreamy all day."
I blushed and grinned happily, thinking back to Olivia's face when she said she wanted to be my girlfriend. "Well..." I said in a cheesy, sing song voice. "I have a girlfriend now."
Jazmine gasped, turning to me completely with wide eyes. I chuckled in amusement. "No way," she gasped. "Is it Olivia?" She asked. I grinned, nodding rapidly. Jazmine's smile widened and she hit me on the shoulder playfully, her knees bouncing happily. "I'm so happy for you!" She said and I felt my cheeks going red from how much I was smiling. It was one thing to know your friend supports you, but it's another thing to actually hear it.
"Thanks Jaz."
The bell for the end of school rang and without a moments hesitation, Jazmine and I bolted out of the classroom and to our lockers. I stuff my books into my bag and walk with Jazmine out of the school and to the nearest bus stop. I took out my phone and leaned against the pole while Jazmine sat on the bench. "Do you think Olivia will come to dancing today?" She asked, I shrugged.
"She came a day after she got a fucking concussion, so I doubt she'll miss today," I say and I stepped back from the pole as the us rolled up to the stop. Jazmine and I got on and sat by the window. We made idle conversation until Jazmine's stop came.
"See you tonight," Jazmine waved and the bus doors shut. I leaned against the window and putting in my earphones. 'When I Grow Up' blared through them and I quickly found myself running through the dance in my head, and feeling pride when I remembered it all.
Eventually the bus stopped on my street and I thanked the driver then got off. I walked the short distance home and went straight to my room. I threw my bag onto my bed and flopped onto it, 'I guess I should call Olivia and see how she's doing,' I think to myself. I take my phone and click on Olivia's contact. It rang a few times until it picked up.
"Hey Alex," Olivia greeted, I immediately found myself smiling.
"So how are you feeling today?" I asked, the was a rustling on the other side and I sat up.
"Fine," Olivia said. "Mr Reynolds drove me to school and I'm back at their place," she explains. I make a face of confusion, where was Valerie? 'Oh shit,' I realised, my eyes widened. 'She hasn't tried to get Olivia back!'
