"hi hyunjin."

felix leaned on said boy's table as he waves at him.

"what is it?"

"so i've noticed that you blank out more often in class these days, and you look haggard and irritable."

"as your class president, i'm obliged to care for you. do you want to confide in me?"

hyunjin was about to tell felix to screw off and mind his own business, but realised that he was being offered the chance to get this weight off his shoulders.

this stupid secret he wanted to so badly to forget.

"you can't tell anyone, okay? not a single soul."

felix nodded and pulled hyunjin into an empty classroom.

he shut the door and hopped onto a table.

"go ahead and spill."

hyunjin diverts his gaze to a window.

"i like seungmin. but he's going to get married to a girl named jiyeon. he doesn't love her and neither does she, they're marrying because it's beneficial for their families."

"ah... is seungmin gay?" felix raises his eyebrow.

"i was too scared to ask." hyunjin sighs.

"look mate, you won't know if he's interested in you unless you ask clearly."

"seungmin seems like the type of person to mask their feelings really well and you're sort of dumb, so..."

"and what if i get rejected? what happens then?"

"for every confession, there's always a possibility of rejection. and many people don't want to take the risk and end up losing a friend."

"humans live such short lives, so we might as well try. if it's a yes, good for you, if it's a no, then we move on. if seungmin is worth the risk, then take it."

"and as for the marriage thing, i think seungmin feels obligated to carry out his family duties."

"he may have agreed to marry jiyeon, but you don't know if he's comfortable. he doesn't necessarily need to like what he's doing."

felix pats hyunjin on the shoulder one last time and leaves.

hyunjin stays in classroom, a thousand thoughts invading his mind every minute.

he has to choose.

tell seungmin and risk their friendship?

or don't tell seungmin and feel his heart break as he promises to stay by someone else's side for the rest of his life?
