Sonadow One Shots

After Work

It's late in the evening and Sonic is jogging back to his apartment. He didn't expect that he would ever be living in a home; usually, he just travels anywhere his feet would take him. But a couple of months ago, everything changed.

He now lives with Shadow.

Out of everyone in his friend group, he chose Shadow (which no one knew about thankfully). But of course, none of them know why even he chose Shadow in the first place. Well, nine months ago, they became official and decided to take the next step forward: moving into the same apartment.

Just thinking of that makes the teen smile,  which motivates him to run faster than ever to see his boyfriend. A few seconds later, he makes it to the building. Quickly running up to floor 18, Sonic makes to the apartment door and quietly opens it.

It's 9:45 according to the clock on the wall. The place is dimly lit so that he could see. Sonic knows that Shadow is here, his mission must've ended early. The blue blur quietly goes to their shared bedroom after closing the front door.

He grins as he sneaks into the bedroom, wanting to surprise Shadow, who looks like he is immersed in his book. But, it seems like the other beat him to it.

"I'm surprised I got here before you," Shadow mutters. Sonic jumps but quickly recovers.

"Come on, man. Ya know that I have the most unpredictable and insane arch enemy, right?" Shadow rolls his eyes and gives him a soft smile; the ebony hedgehog's attitude has been slowly going away since they've been together. But of course, this softer side is saved for Sonic. Shadow didn't want to be seen as weak because if this (despite Sonic saying otherwise).

"So," Shadow starts. "What did Eggman do this time?"

"Oh just the usual. He sent out robots and um...more robots."

Shadow nods and gestures to the hedgehog to get in bed. Sonic obliges and finally realizes how tired he actually is. After climbing into bed, Sonic snuggles into Shadow's chest fur, instantly growing sleepier. 

"G'night Shadow," Sonic mumbles out. Shadow mutters something before closing his eyes. "What was that? Couldn't hear ya."

"I said I love you."

Sonic smirks tiredly at that remark, not expecting the other to say that. Shadow is the type of guy to express his love through his actions rather than words (which Sonic secretly adores). But when he says those three words, Sonic feels like he's in heaven. 

Sleepily grinning at his partner, Sonic mumbles, "I love you too, Shadster."
