"O-oh my god, I'm so sorry!" I stuttered as I tried to wiggle out of the sandwich made up of Troy and Eddie. Troy looked really embarrassed and stuttered out a few "I'm sorrys". I was so embarrassed and I wanted to just get to class. But that didn't seem possible.
No one moved. Troy was still -- so was Eddie, and so was I.
The silence was broken when Eddie cleared his throat. "Um, dude . . . what are you doing?"
He was staring down intensely. It was like his eyes were boring holes in my skull. I almost felt like I could feel heat radiating from his stare. I suddenly felt very vulnerable and scared. He looked nearly murderous. What was that all about?
"Get off my girlfriend!" Eddie said. I could sense that he was angry by the tone of voice he used.
Troy didn't respond for a second, but then he suddenly blinked and took a step away from me. I felt a cold sense of loss. But why? Maybe the hall was just chilly and Troy made me warm. Yeah, that must have been it.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see her coming," he said, putting his hands up in defense. It wasn't like he was shying away from the fight. It was more like he was saying "take it easy."
I could tell when Eddie was ready to brawl, so I pushed him back, trying to calm him down. He looked frustrated and murmured a "Let's go," and grabbed my hand. He pulled me away down the hall to our next class, but not before I was able to look back at Troy, wondering why that he, too, was out of class.

The classes sped by until it was time for lunch and Eddie stopped by my locker to pick me up. I was still so embarrassed and didn't want to think about all that had just gone down but an hour ago. I hope Eddie didn't think any less of me or suspected anything. Not that anything was actually happening; I mean I accidently ran into him.
"Come on let's go to lunch," he said not giving me his usual cocky smile. What if he did suspect something?! He probably didn't and I really shouldn't worry about it.
Eddie was talking to me about something, but I just kept thinking about how it felt when I ran into Troy. Oh I should really stop thinking about that! What is wrong with me!
"Are you listening to me?" He said, looking frustrated. I had totally been zoning out! Oh my god I really need to stop thinking about Troy. I'm with Eddie.
"Sorry what did you say?"
"I was talking about throwing a party tonight at my beach house, to celebrate the last day of no homework." I nodded in agreement and we walked to the lunch room together.
When we walked into the lunch room we walked over to the usual table we sat at. It was filled with the typical cheerleaders and football players. I know, cliché. But hey you're friends with your friends, no matter who they happen to be. Besides, even before high school we were all best friends. Well, most of us, that is.
"Well look what the cat dragged in." I turned to see Amy sitting there with a smug smile, cuddling up on one of Eddie's friends as usual. All of her little sidekicks sat around her, nodding and giggling.
"Really, Amy? If you get any closer to him you're gonna get HIV. Oh wait . . . " Eddie stifled a laugh behind me and a few of the other people at the table laughed. Amy's face went red. I just walked to the end of the table where my friends were sitting.
"Hey, guys," I said, taking a seat next to Jill. They all said hi back. There was me, Jill, Georgia, Macie, Vikki, and Sammie. We've all been best friends since the beginning of time and I love them all. It was so lucky that we all wanted to do cheerleading in high school.
