Nashi's First Period

Laying on her bed, she had an ache in her lower stomach. Now, pain wasn't something that was such a foreign idea in their household. However, this type of pain felt more internal than external. And that wasn't normal.

The twelve-year-old girl ran to the bathroom that was seated at the back of the small cottage that she shared with her crazy family. As she flipped down the toilet seat in a wild manner, her stomach felt as if it were about to explode in pain. Then, she pulled down her underwear. And what she saw almost made her scream.

Little Nashi knew what was happening to her—her mom taught her what it was—but she didn't think her first period would come this early. She ran through the hallway to find her mom talking with Levy.

"Mom?" She popped her head around the corner. 

"Yes, Nashi? Do you need anything?" Her mom turned her attention away from her friend that came over earlier to talk about kids for some reason. Whatever the reason, Nashi didn't care, she just wanted to fix this problem. 

Nashi nervously played with her hands. "Yeah. Can you come with me, Mom?"

Her nervous tone scared her mother. So she waved at her friend Levy, telling her that she would be back once everything's handled. "Of course. Is everything okay?"

"Yeah—"

"Wait! You and Storm didn't do anything, right?" Her mom, Lucy, placed both hands on her shoulders, wanting her daughter to not have even had her first kiss yet. 

"No! Of course not. I just got my period, that's all. . ." She trailed off.

Lucy could see the hurt in her eyes. Knowing that her daughter's growing up is a terrifying thought, but she had to take care of Nashi's feelings before she could be upset herself. "Oh, honey. . ."

"I'm sorry, Mom." Even though she couldn't help it, she felt bad for burdening her mom with this.

That made her giggle a bit. "Why're you sorry. You can't help growing up. And, to be honest, I'm glad that you finally got it 'cause now we can eat chocolate together and cry with your father thinking that we're insane. It's a fun game. When your dad and I first met, I told him that I was on my period because he was nagging me on about how we should go on a job together,"—she laughed—"I can still remember his face. It was so funny!"

Even though Nashi thought it was sweet that her mother to reminisce about her past with her dad, she still wanted to get rid of this mess. "Mom!"

"Oh right. I'll go get you a pad." With that, her mom left to go get her a pad. "Do you know how to use this?"

"Yup." Nashi left to use the bathroom again. However, she didn't know that she had to throw away the wrapper for it. So the wrapper was sitting on the counter for anyone to see.

A few hours later, the household was filled with nothing but silence. Levy left, and now Lucy, Nashi, and Happy all went to bed. However, Natsu was up, going to the bathroom. He went inside when something caught his attention: the wrapper of a pad. Now, he knew exactly what it was, but Lucy's period wasn't supposed to come right now. 

He hurried over to his sleeping wife and shook her awake. "Is something wrong, Natsu?" she asked while rubbing her eyes.

"Um, yeah. Lucy, why is there a pad wrapper in the bathroom?" His eyes had a worried look in them. "I thought you weren't supposed to have your period right now. The last one you had was two months ago—"

"Natsu! Don't worry, I'm still pregnant."

"Well, why is there a pad in the bathroom?" His voice sounded rather angry. 

"Because Nashi had her first period. I just forgot to tell you because you came home so late."

Before he could sigh a breath of relief, his eyes rolled back. He couldn't comprehend that his daughter would be growing up so soon. With that, he fell over on his pregnant wife. 

"It's just a period" was the last thing she said before she fell asleep.
