Now, Bixslow never shared this information with anyone . . . under any circumstances. However, now that everyone knew his secret due to questions asked by a certain nosy Dragon Slayer, the secret was almost out.
It wasn't uncommon knowledge for everyone to know that he can see souls. But none of them knew, however, that he could also see soulmates, too.
It was a question he knew was going to be asked by someone soon enough, so he didn't see the problem with just letting it out. But maybe, he thought, he could have some fun with this.
Earlier on, Natsu had called him over to his table, and Bixslow thought this was weird since they never talked—ever. Aside from maybe a few times when there was barely anyone else in the guildhall, but otherwise, they never chatted. So, this new conundrum was a strange one at that.
Carefully, he had walked over and stood at the table Natsu was sitting at with his best friend. "Hey, you can see souls, right?"
He nodded.
"So, can you see who are friends or not? 'Cause I wanna see if we're best friends!" he said, pointing to his flying friend.
"Well, yeah, I can see whose friends you have, but I don't think I really need this power to see that you guys are already best friends."
Natsu and Happy's face beamed with excitement. "Hell yeah! We're best friends!" They hugged, Natsu squeezing the other.
"Of course, you are friends. You don't need a soul-seer to know that you two are friends." Lucy joined in, slapping them upside the head.
"Hm, if you can see souls, does that mean you can also see soulmates?"
There—the question was out.
"That'd be weird. I think we'd know if he could see soulmates."
Well, there was nothing to hide now.
"Actually, yeah, I can see soulmates."
Their mouths dropped.
"Oh, really. Do I have a soulmate?" Gray asked.
"Yeah."
He stepped back, starstruck. "Wait, really?"
"I mean, yeah. Almost everyone does," the man said nonchalantly. "The people that don't, though, are really rare."
The red-head turned to him, a question on the brain. "Do you have a soulmate?" Erza asked.
"I don't exactly know. I don't think so. And the only other person in here that doesn't have a soulmate is Lisanna." He put a finger to his chin.
Lucy seemed shocked at this information.
Erza hummed. "Well, that could mean something about you two."
"Maybe," he whispered to himself. "But we barely talk, so it probably means nothing."
"I'm still shocked that I have a soulmate, though. Can you tell me who they are?" Gray asked, a pleading look in his eyes. He's never been one to get excited over things, so it was a relieving sight to see him want someone else in his life.
Bixslow scratched the back of his head. "Well, there aren't any rules against it, but I think you should get to know her by yourself. Besides, I think you already know who it is." He pointed over to the far side of the guild where some people were standing, but the only person they caught sight of was Juvia.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"I'm shocked. I didn't know Gray would be with a girl," Mirajane piped in from behind them, placing a plate of fish in front of Happy.
"I would say I'm quite shocked myself. Gray has never been one to get a girl's attention—well, aside from Juvia," Erza added.
"Haha! Gray only likes guys!" Natsu laughed, pointing at Gray.
Gray huffed, crossing his arms. "Well, at least I can get someone's attention."
"Yeah," Lucy chimed. "And making fun of someone for who they like is rude. Besides, I thought you two were a little too close when I first met you guys." She laughed, causing Happy to fall over from laughter as well.
"Hey! I would never date someone as arrogant as Natsu!" Gray shouted, standing up.
"Same!" Natsu added. "Hey, Luce?" She looked over at him, him whispering in her ear. "What does arrogant mean?"
However, before Lucy could slap him for being so stupid, Bixslow started. "So, do you guys need anything else, or?"
"Actually, who's the poor soul who is forced to be with Natsu?" Lucy snickered.
The guild quieted down, seemingly knowing the answer to the question.
"Hm, um." He placed a hand beside his head while Natsu just stared at Lucy for ticking him off. "I don't know if I should say."
"Ooh, I wanna know!" Mira yelled, scooching in next to Natsu.
"As do I," Erza added. "Is it someone in the guild?"
"Uh, yeah."
Lucy noticed that he seemed to look at everyone else aside from her. "So, who is it?"
"Oh, come on. It's obvious that it's Lucy. Have you seen the way they look at each other!? It makes me wanna vomit," Gray joked, pretending to barf on the floor before Erza could hit him.
Lucy just scoffed. "Just tell us who it is."
"Well, I mean, I thought this was obvious—but it's you, Lucy."
"No."
"What do you mean, no?"
"Just, no. Why would we be together?"
"Because you two are the most compatible with each other. And, also, you told me to tell you, so don't get mad at me for telling the truth." He threw his hands up.
"I—no."
For the next couple of minutes, it went on like this between the two while the guild processed this new, acquired information. Even Natsu seemed quite shell-shocked.
"Hey, Luce?" he spoke up.
"No, Natsu. We aren't soulmates."
"What do you mean. He just said we were, and he can see souls—or whatever—so I don't see the problem."
"Well, I refuse." She turned away.
"How can you refuse. I mean, we're friends, and that's kinda like the same thing as a soulmate," Natsu stated.
"Being friends isn't the same thing as a soulmate." She turned back to him. "Most soulmates end up married to each other."
"Yeah. But we don't have to get married."
"Lucy, why are you in denial. Everyone knows you love him," Happy said, laughing.
"Well, yeah, but not like that."
"Okay, so we can stop this un-manliness, who's my soulmate." Elfman somehow popped up out of nowhere.
"Evergreen."
"No."
"Not you, too, Evergreen," Bixslow said.
"I agree with Lucy. These soulmate things are stupid," she huffed.
"I think they're rather interesting. Who's mine, Bixslow?" Erza asked.
"Jellal."
"Damnit! It is real!" Lucy shouted while Evergreen caved in on herself.
