Chapter 10

Another night, another dream. This one begins with a room. A very dark room. I can't see anything else other than the outline of the room. A horrible cry starts ringing throughout the room. I look around but nothing is in this room besides myself. That is until I see the glowing pink Pink Paulyak Hoe in front of me. I heard faint gentle whispers coming from the direction of the hoe. I'm lured closer and closer to it. The cry starts fading away and the gentle whispers turn into a poem.

You'll never know how much I love you until I start dying.

You'll never know how it feels to be free until you start flying.

You'll never know how it feels to win until you start trying.

And one day my child, you will do it all with ease.

I recognize that poem. It's from FuriousDestroyer's book. I grab onto the hoe. A bright light erupts from the hoe. I feel suddenly connected almost to something. Like a new part of me was added. I look up. FuriousDestroyer, Minerva, Lucinda, and three others are staring. FuriousDestroyer starts talking.

"You've accepted your destiny. Good job. We're one step closer to prevailing."

I wake. The Pink Paulyak Hoe is propped up against the wall where I left it yesterday. I have the feeling of being connected still in me. I grab the hoe and head for FuriousDestroyer for answers.

"Did you feel the connection yesterday?"

Lucinda is talking to FuriousDestroyer in his room.

"I did. She accepted the hoe."

"But how did she do it so fast?! It took us all weeks to connect. How did she do it in a matter of days?"

"Raw emotion is a powerful thing."

"That's your answer to everything isn't it."

"Well it is true though isn't it?"

"Yes. You're right."

"She's a lot more powerful than I ever thought."

"I agree. You know, without you, she wouldn't be as powerful if you hadn't been there."

"I know."

"You can't lie to me FuriousDestroyer. I know that you care about her too."

"You don't have any evidence."

"FuriousDestroyer, you can't keep your emotions contained forever. It's inhuman."

He gazes out the window with glazed eyes. Lucinda sighs and leaves the room. He mutters something under his breath.

"I do care about you SuperGirlyGamer."

I start running for FuriousDestroyer as fast as I possibly can. When I get to his room, I open the door. I see FuriousDestroyer gazing out the window. He turns towards me.

"FuriousDestroyer! I had a dream and-..."

"You feel connected almost? Like a new part of you has been added?"

"I... yes actually. What does this mean?"

"It means that you've accepted the Pink Paulyak Hoe. All the wielders know that you're the new wielder of the Pink Paulyak Hoe now, too. Tomorrow we head out to find Big James."

"I um... okay. Will I get to train with you?"

"Of course."

I leave him.
