"Again..." I whisper to myself quietly, I forcibly peel my drooping eyelids open. Racking my brain I tried to remember, how this time I got caught, and I ended up drawing blank.

I stared absently at my surroundings, feeling cold, and worn rusty iron wrapping around my wrists as I do so.

The room was dark, enough light to make out the steel metal walls, with rivets and grime building up, and the iron bars that lay just outside of my legs reach, they were old as the rest of the ship.

Though these bars looked out of place, as if they were just installed into a corner to prevent my escape. The door that rested in the middle of them was no better.

I slump my head down, looking at my feet which is pushed out and away from me sliding against the cold metal floor. I sighed lightly, seemed no guards were actively around me, but I'd have to be cautious.

Raising my head up to get a closer look at my cuffs, truly just metal bands strapped around my wrists, no screws, no pins attached to the cuffs was a chain link, with the chain leading up to just above my head.

I yank my right hand down causing it to sink bellow my shoulder, but pull my other hand up. My legs had unrestricted movement though, tapping my hole riddled boots against the ground lightly.

I looked at my hand quietly, breathing in and out. Raising it closer to me as close as possible, so that I can see the faint scars and scratches, I took a second.

Then bit and ravaged my hand, tear a little of my flesh out clenching down avoiding making any noises, letting go feeling warm blood on my teeth.

Watching as it dripped slowly from the gash now in my hand, I felt a churn in my stomach at the act, and yet I watched my blood drip ever still watching it fall past my old clothes, themselves carrying dry blood, fall into a puddle on the floor next to me.

I level my hands out as best I could against the cuffs, flinging some blood away as I do my best to pull both hands down towards the puddle, raising my hands up slowly, watching my blood pull itself off the floor, like it had grown sentience, it soon arcing through the air in front of my face as I pull my hands up this time as far as they could go.

I watched the best I could, at this arc of blood above my head, it rested and stopped just above the link to the wall holding my cuffs. I raised it just a bit higher with as fluid as a motion as possible.

Before, pulling my hand down sharply, hearing my blood slosh slightly, cutting itself against the link. I repeated the motion slow at first, then a rip down.

Repeating that motion, over and over being patient so as to ensure the cut hit the same spot over and over, I felt the boat slosh against the sea even as I did so.

All was slow, even with no guards coming in to check on me, I did one last slosh, before I checked my progress again, this time the link was barely holding together with a massive gash in the middle of the cuffs.

I heard a pound of metal before I could finish, instinctively I dropped flat, motionless acting as if I was still yet asleep. I heard the pound one more time, then the grating of metal on metal, a bang followed by thumping feet, they were heavy, but it was only one set.

I heard the whistling from the man, the chinking of keys. "Hah, we got him good we did, he's still asleep." The man chuckled to himself, "his price, will let me live cozy." The man spoke again, his voice was sickening I focused on him, I could feel his pulse his heart beat, his pure joy at the prospect of a good future, paved by my torment.

I held my tongue and gritted my teeth, not to alarm him, "Oh?" The man said, his voice dropping slightly I could feel him grip the bars of my cage, he must've spotted the bloody pool that would be forming next to me.
