The plush green grass stretched along the sides of Valerie's driveway. Droplets of dew clung to the blades of grass. The chirping sounds of early birds echoed through Valerie's ears as she rushed to the car. She saw her raging mad sister Bella sitting in the back seat. She hated having to wait for her younger sister. Valerie flung open the door and sat down. She came in the car and sat next to Bella in the back seat. Bella'seyes were glued to her phone. She was addicted to that device. All she ever felt like was texting her friends. She never cared to spend time with her sister. The car ride was mostly silent, Bella was on her phone the whole ride. Every 15 minutes Valerie'sparents would talk about taxes and such things.
As they were getting closer to the campsite, Valerie began to see all the signs pop up for camp and soon enough, she was there.
"We'll miss you, Valerie," her parents said as Valerie grabbed her bags about to leave the car.
"Me too," Valerie felt tears slowly forming in her eyes. She wanted to stay with her parents and just go back home. She hated having to meet new people. She spent all her life as an introvert. She hardly ever cared to spend time meeting new friends. She had one friend, and that was all she felt was necessary.
"Bella, aren't you going to miss your sister?"
Bella remained silent.
"Bella?" Her mother said raising one brow.
"No, I won't miss her. She was a waste of space anyway," Bella looked back at her phone and began to text.
Valerie grabbed her bags and left for camp. Before she walked towards the camp, she took a final glance at her parents as they drove away in their 2016 black Buick. She felt a lump go down her throat, but she walked ahead.
