Valerie stood facing two large iron gates. Each gate was around six feet tall and made with twisted black rods. In the end, some were curled in convoluted patterns, and opportunist spiders had created webs there. Valerie's hesitant hands stretched towards the latch, and with ease, it swung open, almost without a sound. Valerie burst through the gates, lost in thought. She stood there puzzled, just then a girl about her age bumps into her.
"Ouch," Valerie muttered in a low tone.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," I didn't notice you.
"Oh, no, that's fine. Would you know where our cabins are?"
This new girl seemed pretty nice, but Valerie didn't really bother trying to get to know her.
"Follow me, I'll show you the way."
"Thanks," Valerie whispered.
Valerie followed her to her cabin. She looked around at all the boys and girls her age laughing and talking. As soon as the girl lead her to her cabin, Valerie thanked her and quickly shut the door. Valerie plopped herself on her bed and just shut her eyes. She wanted to forget about camp and just go home.
By now it was 10:45 AM. Valerie's eyes shot open, she looked at her surroundings. She didn't even get a chance to check the schedule. She just fell straight to sleep. She leaped up, hardly ready not even getting the chance to dress in a new pair of clothes. She shoved through her backpack and pulled out her comb. She stroked her hair with every brush, not bothering to pull out all the knots. By the time she freshened up, she had left her cabin and began to explore the place.
It was beautiful, the sound of water overlapping rocks, flowing rivers, and grass made the scenery super peaceful. The blanket of dark green grass grew evenly. As the wind gushed forward the perfectly green beauty flattened in waves. Valerie noticed groups of friends sitting in separate groups laughing and talking. She longed for Maria, her best friend to be with her. Valerie strolled the path by the lake. Her mind lost in thought from the magnificent sight.
She could only wish it would last forever, but the thought got interrupted by something holding her shoulder. Valerie's heart dropped, who was touching her?
