Valerie felt butterflies in her belly, Fiona noticed something was wrong.
"Is everything okay?"
"Umm...not really," Valerie whispered.
"I think I feel the same way. I think Kevin is up to something."
"I feel the same way! Although I don't think it would be proper for us to make assumptions based on anything yet, we need to find proof" Valerie says. Just then Frankie comes in the conversation.
"What do you feel guys? Tell me please!"
"Shush Frankie," Fiona whispered in a serious manner.
"Why do boys talk so loud?"Fiona rolls her eyes at him.
"We'll tell you later," Valerie says.
"Alright," he mumbles quietly.
That whole night Valerie sat down with her new group of soon-to-be friends. It kind of felt nice getting to meet people and hanging around them. For once she didn't feel lonely. She actually felt pumped, excited, more alive than ever before.
Once the other children began to slowly go to their cabins, Fiona gathered up Valerie, Rivi, Frankie and Frankie behind a tree near the river. It was 9 pm the sky wore a black blanket with shimmering crystals decorating it. No one was going to find them in the dark. They all just stared at the magnificent beauty.
"So guys, how was your day?" Fiona blurted out.
"OH MY GOSH, you all will not believe this," yelled out Frankie.
"This camp has the BEST marshmallows EVER!!" He grabbed out a chunk full of fluffy marshmallows and chewed on them.
Everyone giggled, "Oh Frankie, you and your food," they all said except for Valerie who didn't know the group very well just yet and she was still a bit shy too.
Valerie was feeling more worried by the second. She felt Kevin had different plans for them, they weren't in a summer camp, they were on something so much more complex.
"Umm...guys? Have you noticed anything weird about Kevin?" Valerie asked.
"I dunno, maybe?" Frankie didn't seem to care about anything either then food. He continued to chew on marshmallows before anyone else could comment about how they felt about Kevin, they heard someone talking on the phone. It wasn't just any conversation, this was serious.
"Was that Kevin," Rivi whispered.
"Sure sounded like him" Frankie responded.
"Do you guys think he's planning something against us?" Valerie began to feel suspicious.
"Don't be ridiculous Valerie," Frankie found the whole idea of Kevin having a plan unrealistic.
The rest of them kept silent, was Kevin planning against them? They needed to find out, and they needed to find out fast.
"I have an idea," Rivi said. Everyone stared at her, eager to know what she had in mind.
"Why don't we spy on him? He said on the phone call that he would meet up with the members of the camp in the main hall, one of us could listen and then report what he said."
Even though Valerie was an introvert and wasn't very confident in her abilities she was a daredevil. Everyone was silent, what on earth did Valerie think? Was she going crazy?
"Ahh Valerie, not sure if this occurred to you yet...but umm...DON'T YOU THINK WE'LL GET IN TROUBLE?!" Yelled Frankie.
"Guys this is our only chance, now or never."They knew she was right they had to do it.
"Alright, it's on, let's do this," they all said.
Their mission was about to start, by now it was 9:29 pm. They were tiptoeing all the wayto the main hall. They saw Kevin enter as the door closed shut, Valerie pressed her anxious ears on the door.
She could hear Kevin talking.
