Still Not A Date

Moving around all the time was exhausting at times, but probably not as bad as making an honest living. Mostly it was fun to live so freely, but it could have been better. They were perpetual shut ins. Zack didn't exactly go unnoticed during the day time. He hated that she never went out just because he couldn't.

Still, even if he was feeling a bit cooped up, he had to draw a line somewhere.

"You're not putting makeup on me!"

"But Zack, you'll be able to go out without people noticing you."

"I said no!"

"Come on. Let's just try it."

"You're so pushy." He growled. "Fuck. Fine, but if I see you reach for eyeliner I'll break your tiny little fingers."

He couldn't believe he was letting her put makeup on him like he was a doll or something. She didn't even wear makeup herself. She had a point though. It was getting well past boring staying inside all the time. He really wanted to take her out and see her have a good time.

It must have taken almost an hour for her to finish putting makeup on him. He had no idea what the fuck she was doing. She put like six different kinds of creams and powders on his skin.

"Okay. You can look now." She sat back, looking very satisfied with herself.

"Don't ever tell me I'm not patient again."

"We didn't have anything else to do anyway." She rolled her eyes.

He got up to look in the mirror and froze. What the fuck? What the fuck was he looking at?

"Damn! I'm pretty." He laughed off his initial shock. "I mean, it took a half a pound of that shit but I look pretty fucking human, don't I?"

"You always look human. It looks really good though, right?"

"I mean... yeah..." He examined his face from every angle. "I would have been pretty good looking, huh?"

"You are good looking."

"Fuckin' liar."

She peered over his shoulder and wrapped her arms around him. He was shocked. They looked like a proper couple. Even without his face looking fucked up, she was still way out of his league, but the sight of her cheek pressed up against his was more endearing than disturbing.

"You're just gonna stare at yourself in the mirror all day, huh? What have I done? I never thought you'd be so full of yourself."

"Oh shut up. Not all of us can be as beautiful as you when we wake up in the morning."

"Wow... Nice comeback."

"Whatever. So now that I'm pretty, where do you want to go? Thanks to our dearly departed-" he picked up the credit card of the woman who used to live in the apartment and examined it, "-Linda Braun, we can go anywhere you want."

"Really?" She lit up in excitement. "Hmm... Where to go on our first date..."

"It's not a date." He immediately corrected her. She sulked at that but managed to recover quickly. She was used to his resistance.

"Let's go do one of those escape room things."

"Huh?"

"I guess you can either go with your own team or join up with other people. They lock you in a room and you have to solve a bunch of puzzles to get out before the time is up."

He burst out laughing.

"Hey, we're good at that! Very funny, but really... What do you want to do?"
