As fragile as flowers (Harith x Harley) 🐱🃏 (Hanahaki AU)

Chapter 2: I can't believe this has happened to me...

Indeed, the Genius Mage never knew what was happening to him. He saw the petals and his own blood on his hands. He looked horrified. He never expected this, especially on the first day of school. He washed his hands and began coughing out more petals. He was startled when his new friend, Diggie, burst out from his stall and nearly shouted at him. It was a good thing nobody else but Harley heard him.

Diggie: HARLEY! Don't tell me you got that!!!
Harley: *coughs* G-got wh-what?
Diggie: You don't know...?

Harley shook his head in reply.

Diggie: You don't know...
Harley: Can you please explain what is happening to me before I- *vomits*
Diggie: OMG! D-don't worry, I got your back...Now there...are you done?
Harley: I-I think. Now can you explain?
Diggie: See...um...it's hard to explain. Now there is this disease called Hanahaki. I am surprised that you didn't know that. Anyways, the disease just started to appear one day and...and...it can be fatal to whoever has it.

The mage widen his eyes in horror. Him, dying?! No way...but it is true...

Diggie: They say it's born from one sided love...and there are two ways to cure it. It's to either confess and they'll love you back or you remove it through surgery but the feelings are also removed...say, do you like anyone in particular?
Harley: To be honest...I d-don't know myself...
Diggie: I see...since you ARE new, I guess you don't know the people that much...can I tell this to Nana, I think she can help.
Harley: Sure, and one thing. Don't mention that I'm bi.
Diggie: Wh-what...okay...?
Diggie in mind: So many LGBT+! I don't mind it, but I'd like someone straight, like me...(Like Angela maybe?)

Harley couldn't think properly that time. Throughout the rest of the classes, one thing was stuck on his mind. Even if I did like Harith just now, which is nearly impossible, there is NO WAY he'll like me back...it just doesn't look like it... And alas, the whole time, his mind wandered everywhere to his Leonin seatmate. Surely enough, will he find out that Lylia doesn't like Harith the same way he does? It would upset him too much if ever he found out. Yet here he is, writing a letter to her saying that he wants to meet her at the cherry tree after school. The male Leonin waited and anticipated for his crush after class ended. He was ready to tell her, or at least he thought. The young witch was busy feeding her pet Gloom along the corridor. She went to her locker and saw the note Harith placed in there. She looked doubtful. She sure didn't want to disappoint him...still, she packed up her things and went there. When Harith saw her, his heart skipped a beat. He was much too eager to express his feelings towards her; only to be heartbroken later...

Harith: Lylia! There you are.
Lylia: What did you want Harith? I haven't got all day you know...

Harley was waiting for his sister to come out of the classroom. Her class ended later than usual today. She did promise him to walk with him home for today. It looks like he had to wait for a long while which made him bored. He played solitaire, roam around the corridors while secretly pranking the staff, and made a card castle. How he finished it in 15 minutes was his wild guess. He was SO bored that he decided to roam around again to be more familiar in the place. He left after finishing his card castle and went behind school. The air smells so fresh. The atmosphere was too beautiful to resist. He was stuck on his own world of wonder when he heard some soft but silent cries. He strained himself to try and listen to where the crying was. He looked around the campus. Gosh there are so many trees around that I couldn't see. It took him a while to get past the branches until he saw one isolated cherry tree in the middle of the forest. He then knew who was the one crying all along...

Flashback...
Harith: I um...
Lylia: Hm?
Harith: I like you Lylia! Will you please be my girlfriend?
Lylia: Harith...I sorry to say but I don't share the same feelings towards you but towards your sister. Please forgive me...I'm sure someone else will like you...
Harith: O-oh...I-I understand...
Lylia: Sorry... *leaves*
Harith was processing what had happened. He sat down, put his head on his knees and cries softly.
Harith: Am I not good enough for anybody?!

Flashback ended...
Harley in mind: Isn't that the Leonin boy?! Harith, I think...why is he here alone and crying a lot? Isn't he supposed to be with his sister by now...?
Harith stopped crying. He wiped his face, looked up and jolted up when his saw Harley.
Harith in mind: S*** did he see me?! God I should be more careful now...I need to act cool.
Harley: U-uh...hi...?
Harith: Harley! I didn't expect to see you here!
Harley in mind: Should I be concerned or...should I not ask this at all...maybe I should.
Harley: U-um Harith...are you alright there?
Harith: I-I'm fine! Why'd you ask?
Harley: You um...look like you were crying?
Harith: Oh...um...
Harley: I-it's alright! You can tell me. I'll be there for you.
Harith: Really...?
Harley: Yeah really! There isn't a promise I couldn't keep!
Harith: Really...
Harley: Maybe some of them.
Harith: Pfft. You're so funny! Hahaha!

Harley felt so embarrassed that his face turned red and he started shouting at the male Leonin. After a long while of explanation, Harith had decided that he should find someone else, with the help of Harley of course. At first, everything seemed fine when they were walking along the corridor...until Harley felt like he's going to vomit again.

Harley: U-um...Harith? E-excuse me for a sec.
Harith: Wait Harley, where are you going?!

And he escaped using space escape. He lock the bathroom stall and puked on the sink. There were more petals this time. He looked at his hands, which were now bloody, and began coughing petals. He washed his hands and his face afterwards. He looked at the mirror and sighed. I-I c-couldn't possibly like Harith, right? Ugh. I can't believe this has happened to me...especially on the first day of school! After fully rinsing himself, he walked up to the door and just when he unlocked it, he noticed Cyclops behind him.

Harley: Oh not you too...
Cyclops: HARLEY! WHO IS IT?!
Harley: Not now! I'll tell you and Diggie by tomorrow break, okay?
Cyclops: He's involved as well?! And wait...why tomorrow...?
Harley: I am still asking myself if I do like the person.
Cyclops: Fair point.

Cyclops then opened the door to see Harith waiting.

Harith: Hey Cyclops! Is Harley there...?
Cyclops: Yes...? Why-

Harith then chrono dash past him and surprise hugged Harley.

Harith: OMG. You're safe...don't scare me like that again...

Harley was now a tomato because of the sudden hug. Cyclops looked at him, who is red from Harith's hug, and then smirked. Oh...I get it... He then wore a mischievous smile on his face. Wait till Diggie gets a load of this.
