"Sleepyhead, you ready for school?!" Louise smiled, elegantly sitting on the sofa.
"As I'll ever be," I grumbled.
"Glad to hear it," she said. "Don't daily, hurry up, we've still got things to do at school!" she yelled.
"As if there is!” I yelled back while heading towards the bathroom.
*Bloody hell, what a crazy morning!*
I did a quick shower and put on my school uniform. Grabbing the sandwich Aunt made for me, I said my goodbyes and left the house.
Louise made for the front gate, and I followed closely behind.
Naturally, I found myself burdened with not only carrying my bag but hers as well. I was surprised, seeing as doing things like that was the reason everyone thought we were dating. I assumed she planned to take it back before we got to school.
That, or she realized everybody thought we were dating and knew it was too late to do damage control.
But the things that happened yesterday noon still bothered me.
"Uh…hey, Louise" I started.
"Hmm?"
"I…Im sorry about yesterday," I said in a soft voice.
"Huh?"
"I said I'm sorry about yesterday" This time, a lot louder.
"Oh…what happened yesterday again?" Louise said, playing dumb.
*Argh! Of course you know it, stop playing dumb you crazy vampire!* I grumbled. I already noticed the smile she was trying to hide from me, it was clear she's playing dumb.
"Nothing! Forget I said something!" I rolled my eyes at her and continued walking.
"Okaaaay."
So we continued walking, after a few moments…A realization struck me.
Why are you walking?" I asked.
"Huh?" She raised a brow at me. "I'm not sure what you mean."
"Your family's rich."
She frowned. "And?"
"Why. Are. You. Walking? Don't they have someone who can drive you?"
She shrugged. "There was never really any need. We live so close by, and it's not like it would normally take me this long."
I tilted my head. I didn't know what she meant, but it was a little uncanny how she could sometimes just appear in a blink.
*She wasn't human. She might have been a lot faster than I realized.*
"So you are going the slow way…do you have super speed or something?" I asked.
She laughed. "Everyone always thinks that for some reason." She seemed sincerely amused.
"That's kind of what it looks like," I said.
"No, no super-speed or something, well, I'm a vampire so I'm kinda faster than you, humans." She looked at me.
"I heard vampires had magical abilities, is that true?" I continued asking.
"Sort of."
"So what're your abilities?"
"I've got none." She answered.
"None? Or you just don't want to talk about it?" I stopped and stared at her. "Okay fine." I shrugged.
We continued walking. And as soon as we arrived at school, Louise immediately snatched her bag back.
She ran for the school gates.
"You do realize people from school probably saw us walking together, right?" I said.
She nearly tripped over her own feet when she heard me, "Just checking."
I continued walking and headed to my classroom. Surprisingly, I didn't see Louise all morning.
During lunch, I was approached by Matthew.
"Boss, you have time after school?"
"I've got work," I said. "But It's only for a few hours. Probably. And uh…I'd be dropping by to the dojo, why?"
"Oh." He frowned. "Wait, you got a job?"
"Uh…yeah." I answered, somewhat embarrassed. "Talk later, I gotta go!" I said as I threw the left-overs of my lunch into the trash can.
I made my way back into my next classes. As I turned in a corner, I nearly bumped into someone.
It's Ateia.
She rolled her eyes.
I shrugged. "Sorry."
We awkwardly stood out in the open. There were still a few minutes before lunch was over.
"So..." She stepped up to me. "Gotta say, Louise, told me about you trying to give her a concussion a couple of days ago."
I scratched the back of my neck. "Right. Uh, about that-"
"Are you seriously going to try justifying throwing rocks at someone?" She raised a brow at me.
"Er- no, I wasn't actually aiming at her..."
Ateia scoffed. "Wow." She rolled her eyes, before walking away. The bell rang a few moments later.
"What a day." I took off toward my next class.
"Oh." I stopped, I just recalled what Matt asked me. I didn't get to hear what Matthew wanted to do later. It was too late to figure that out. Not that it mattered. I wouldn't be able to make it anyway.
The afternoon passed uneventfully. Unlike the day before, I found myself face to face with Louise in front of the school.
"You're walking with me?" I asked "Again?"
She frowned. "I'm not too concerned about a few baseless rumors."
"If you say so."
"Be quiet." She whipped around and marched forward. "Just follow me. I've got a special assignment for you today."
"…oh, wonderful…" I grumbled, sarcastically. I'm already expecting something just from that tone of hers.
…
Arriving at their mansion, Louise brought me to a large warehouse.
I stared at a large storage shed located behind their mansion. Various gardening tools could be found within. Although I hadn't entered it myself, I had seen a few gardeners regularly coming in and out of it while I was working the day before.
Louise patted my shoulder. "Best of luck organizing everything in there. The gardeners will be really thankful. Things always tend to become a bit messy after a while."
She walked away with a triumphant smile as I surveyed the situation.
She wasn't lying about the place being a mess. The shed was not organized in any way. The only semblance of order were the tools being located on the right side, and supplies on the left.
Other than that, everything was just left wherever.
Finding the right spot for everything was going to be difficult.
*Bloody hell, she's too wicked! This place was really a mess!*
And it was. It took the better part of two hours to get that shed looking even halfway decent.
Naturally, as soon as I had finished, Louise abruptly appeared. She looked over every inch of it with a careful eye, lingering pointlessly on each item. I did not believe for one moment that she was really analyzing the quality of my work.
Every few seconds she would accentuate her inspection with a 'hmm'.
