"How did you get to earth?" She joined Kreve in the kitchen.

He regarded her quietly for a moment, "I don't really know. Elias figured out a link. I just woke up in your world."

She propped her hands under her chin and leaned against the counter. The phone call conversation that she had with Elias was brief, vague, and she couldn't remember much. She hadn't really believed it was him but now she was kicking herself for not listening closer. She needed clues, something to follow.

Suddenly, she paused, "Wait, you said he figured out a link, right?"

"Yes."

"If he was able to send your physical body to earth, then he might just need someone to send him," She rubbed her temples, "Someone who can work the link. You said your world is an interconnected web, right?"

Kreve nodded.

She glanced around the cozy little house, "Is there some type of technology I can use here? I could locate him a lot faster."

"My world is different than yours," Kreve said, "Only the Fallan possess technology. It is a forbidden use to the general population."

"What?" She blinked at him in disbelief, "What kind of rules are those?"

"I wouldn't call them rules," Kreve arranged the food onto two plates, "They are what keep us alive. We live only by what we need. Technology is not something we need for survival. We don't even have cars."

"Why?"

"Think about it," He tilted his head, "You have seen the animal characteristics of the people here. They live partially by their nature. It isn't usual for us to commit to human ways of life. Have you not noticed the difference in our world? The air is cleaner, the life is peaceful, we're a thriving community without human conflict."

"You make it sound better than earth," She grumbled, "Humans aren't all that bad."

"Some are not bad," Kreve corrected, "There is still a large majority who are. Human nature is greedy, cruel and selfish. We at least respect the different species."

"Alright," She bit out, "I get it."

"Don't act like you haven't been bullied your entire life by your own kind."

Her head whipped towards him, "What did you just say?"

"Elias told me about you. So I would understand."

She felt like she had to defend herself, "He had no right."

"He was only trying to make it easier."

"Yeah, well, he didn't have to tell you the worst part." She crossed her arms. She almost felt like a pouting child but she was a little hurt. Elias shouldn't have told her best kept secrets to a complete stranger, it made her feel exposed and helpless.
