She stared at the bracelet.
She wondered what kind of story it had. She wondered what kind of adventures it had been through. What had happened to the very first human that discovered this world? Obviously, he was dead now, but how long had he managed to survive? Surely quite some time because he had managed to figure out how to craft this bracelet. She wondered what kind of secrets had died with him. Maybe that's when they decided to kill him. Maybe he knew too much.
She furrowed her brow, looking at the ceiling from her berth. She had all but lost the motivation to get up during the day. There was no point. She spent all her time in this room, staying hidden from the crew. She sighed, letting her arm hang, and she looked over at Kreve.
He seemed to have no problem with this boring voyage. Due to his feline nature, he was napping for almost eighteen hours a day. He exhibited very lazy behavior and if she woke him, his eyes would narrow with irritation. She was still a little bit wary to anger him, she had no idea the extent of animal nature he had. She almost wanted to ask him but she figured that would irritate him even more. She bit her lip.
Suddenly, there was a flurry of chaos above deck. She held her breath to listen. Shouting. Someone was shouting and they sounded incredibly angry. A thunder of footsteps echoed from one side of the ship to the other. She furrowed her brow in confusion. Something had the crewmembers stirred up today, they were usually quiet in the mornings and rambunctious at night.
Then she heard heavy footsteps thundering down the stairs. Her eyes flew to the door. Those footsteps were coming this way. She quickly glanced at Kreve, he was awake. That was good. She almost jumped out of her skin when an angry fist pounded the door. Her eyes flew to the board that kept the door closed and she almost slumped in relief. Whoever it was couldn't get in. She looked at Kreve.
He hissed lowly, "It's the Captain."
"I know yer in there ya thieves!" Captain Hawkeye bellowed, kicking at the door, "Yer in possession of something that ain't yers! I suggest ya give me my booty or else we'll rip ya out of yer rat hole and throw yer remains to the sharks! Ye lily-livered leeches!"
She sunk further into her berth. The Captain knew. He knew they stole the bracelet. She shot a glare at Kreve, she had told him it was a bad idea. He rose an unimpressed eyebrow at her and then quietly, skillfully, swung out of his berth and walked closer to the door.
The Captain spewed more profanities, some of which she didn't even know the meaning of but she got the gist of it when the Captian kept shouting in fury. Kreve was unfazed, standing close to the door as he listened. She realized he was listening for others out there, if there were other crewmembers waiting to jump them if they were stupid enough to open the door.
Soon enough, Captain Hawkeye stormed off when they refused to open the door. She shot a panicked look at Kreve. He instantly began packing their belongings into a burlap sack. She scrambled out of her berth, "What are we going to do?" She asked.
"We're leaving."
"I told you this was a bad idea!" She scolded, "Can't we just give it back and call it even?"
Kreve rolled his eyes, "No, that's not how it works. They'll skin us alive either way."
"So what are we gonna do? Jump ship? In the middle of the ocean?" She waved her arms with dramatics.
