Cassie:
My eyes fluttered open and I squinted as they adjusted to the dimly lit living room. I was on a plush, black sofa with a blanket covering me, across from me was a huge tv surrounded by DVD's and a fireplace that was burning lowly. I sat up to get a better view of where I was. I had no recollection of how I got there, but it was a place that I knew far too well.

From the floor to ceiling windows, the dark interior, the artwork on the walls, and smell of the blanket that was covering me, it didn't take long at all to realize I was in my ex's penthouse apartment.

"What the hell?" I mumbled to myself as I sat up and reached for my phone that was on the coffee table. "Of course it's dead."

"Good morning."

I turned to see my ex boyfriend Abel coming down the spiral staircase.

He was in a pair of grey joggers and a black t-shirt that was cut just low enough to show off his gold chains and a little bit of his chest hair.

"Well, more like good afternoon." He said then clicked a button on the remote in his hand to open the blinds, letting more light into the room.

"What am I doing here? How did I get here?"

"You don't remember?"

"No..."

"You we're at a party with your friend and you two got in an argument then you called me really upset and asked me to come get you."

"I did?"

"Yeah and you were really fucking drunk." He laughed. "I got you some food then you crashed on the couch..." He checked his watch. "Thirteen hours ago."

"What time is it now?"

"Half past five."

"Oh my god. This is so embarrassing."

"It's all good. I'm just glad you knew you could still call me..."

Abel and I broke up almost a year ago and hadn't seen or spoken to each other since so needless to say, we were both pretty uncomfortable.

It wasn't an ugly break up, it just wasn't easy for either of us.

We were together for a little over three years but we started to grow apart because his career was taking off and he just had no time for me. But even though I was hurt, I couldn't have been more proud of everything he was doing.

"Well thank you but I guess I should go now."

"You don't have to go." He said a little too eager then tried to nervously laugh it off. "I mean, that storm is rolling through and I know you don't like storms so if you wanna stay, I'm cool with that but no pressure or whatever...if you wanna leave that's cool too...I guess."

I looked over at the windows and saw that the sky was gray and it had already started to drizzle a little bit. I didn't have my car which meant I'd have to get an Uber and that was going to be hell with a storm coming in, or I could let Abel drive me home...but he was right, I didn't like storms and hated being alone during them.
