JACKSON was miserable.

"Which dress?" she asked him as she held up her two options.

He looked at both before pointing to the one in her right hand. "Please do not wear the same dress you wore for our date," he joked.

Delilah laughed at his comment as she held the dress he chose up against her body, modeling to see if it would work for her date. Although his statement came out as a joke, Jackson wasn't really joking. He didn't want Jasper to enjoy a night out with Delilah with her wearing the exact dress she wore when he got to enjoy a night out with her.

Really only half the night to be frank.

Jackson was so consumed by his thoughts, he didn't even notice that Delilah was impatiently standing in front of him already changed into the dress, asking him if it looked good on her.

She looked so perfect he couldn't help but be as truthful as possible. "Absolutely fucking beautiful," he marveled. He legitimately couldn't stop looking at her.

Delilah blushed at his compliment. "Stop joking," she chuckled, not actually believing his words.

Just once, before Jasper fully took Delilah for his own, Jackson had to convince her that he was never joking when it came to her beauty. So without another thought, he got up and walked over to where she was nervously looking at herself through the mirror. Standing behind her, Jackson brought her hair to one side of her shoulders.

"Delilah," he demanded her attention and that's exactly what she gave him. His eyes pierced into her soul through the mirror and she felt herself forget how to breathe.

"What?" she managed to hoarsely breathe out.

"When I say you're beautiful. I fucking mean it," he stated in such a way that there was no way for her to not believe him. He left no space for argument. His hands stayed on her waist and he let himself enjoy their proximity.

Before she could say anything, Adelaide burst through the door with their take out. "Okay I paid the Chinese guy so I expect payment Jackson," she exclaimed as she walked into the room.

As her voice broke Jackson and Delilah out of their trance, Jackson immediately stepped away from Delilah, frowning at himself for letting himself enjoy her company.

Mumbling to himself, he walked over to Adelaide and fished a couple of bucks out of his pocket and put them in her hand. He grabbed the take-out before leaving the room.

Adelaide watched his back as he left before turning back to a flustered Delilah.

"You look pretty," she smiled as she admired Delilah's outfit.

"Thanks," Delilah gratefully said, but she remained distracted from when Jackson had told her she was beautiful. She still was having a hard time figuring out how to breathe again because Jackson had stolen all the air from her lungs when he put his hands on her waist and complimented her with all the confidence he could muster.

Why did he make her feel so hot and bothered?

Adelaide stood in the same place, realizing that she must have interrupted a moment between the two teenagers. Her eyes widened and she silently cursed herself for ruining such a moment for Jackson. She would always sympathize for the poor guy.

"Let's go down and eat some take-out," she offered Delilah with a smile.

They walked downstairs to see Jackson getting ready to leave. He was putting his coat on and had already put his shoes on. He held one box of take-out in his hand before grabbing the door handle to leave.

"Where are you going?" Delilah asked with a hint of disappointment in her voice. Why was she so dejected that he wasn't going to stay?

He looked back at them and smiled softly. "Oh well I figured it's time to leave. Jasper will be here soon and I won't have a reason to stay."

"What about after the date?" Delilah questioned. At this point she prayed it wasn't obvious that she really wanted Jackson to stay.

Jackson looked down at the take out in his hand before sending a tight-lipped smile Delilah's way. "I think you and Jasper will be quite busy throughout the night."

Adelaide's eyes widened at what he had basically insinuated, as did Delilah's.

Before she could convince him to stay, Jackson was already bidding them a goodbye.

"Have fun Delilah," he directed towards her with a genuine smile on his lips. He also held adoration in his eyes but she was too stupid to notice. She nodded her head with absolutely no excitement in her body anymore and she was absolutely confused. She thought she was excited for her date.

But then why did the excitement leave as soon as Jackson did?
