DELILAH could feel the slow day take it's sweet time in dragging on.

She groaned in annoyance.

Last time she glanced at the clock it was 6pm and her shift ended in approximately 15 minutes. If only the time could speed up a couple of minutes.

Eventually, when the minute hand hit 6:15, she cheered internally as she excitedly put her apron away and let her hair out of the incredibly tight bun it'd been in all day. She massaged her scalp in attempt to soothe the pain she felt.

Walking out of the cafe, she shouted and waved a goodbye to her coworkers as she exited onto the sidewalk. She looked at both sides of the road before deciding it was safe to cross. Unfortunately, reckless drivers existed and they seemed to not give a damn whether or not they might accidentally kill someone.

The moment she stepped off the sidewalk, she could hear the car coming before she saw it. The engine was revving like it's life depended on it and Delilah knew that it was no doubt a flashy sports car.

People who owned sports cars always felt the need to drive fast and rev their engine and show off the fact that they had a sports car. Like jeez man as if people couldn't tell from the bright primary colors already.

Her heart stopped and she froze in fear. She knew she should move before it hit her, but her body decided not to go into flight or fight mode.

Instead it appeared to stay still and wait for death.

Luckily, other humans existed and were kind enough not to let other people die. His hands shot out before she even noticed him behind her. They wrapped around her waist and he pulled her to him in a hurry as the car whizzed past her in all its arrogant glory.

They both fell back as the impact of her body crashing into his forced them downwards. He took the brunt of the fall, groaning as his body hit the ground in full force. Delilah was lucky enough to not experience as much pain as him considering that his body cushioned her blow.

Everything happened so fast she could barely comprehend it. She didn't move, instead staying on top of the unknown guy who she should probably be owing her life to at the moment.

His moans of pain snapped her out of the daze she was in and she quickly scrambled off his body. She turned around kneeling down on her knees to look at the boy who saved her from premature death.

He stayed on the ground, not moving an inch. He wasn't even making a sound anymore. Oh god. Oh god oh god oh god! Was he dead? Did he really just save her from death and then die?

That couldn't be possible. That was the cruelest form of irony.

"Don't be dead," she repeated over and over again as she cautiously poked his cheek. "Oh please don't be dead I'm begging you god. If he's dead I will literally cry." She was already on the verge of tears and couldn't help but let a few escape.
