Dean had to drive a little more slowly than usual, because outside the precious Impala, snow was blanketing Montana... where ever they were in Montana.
(y/n) shivered in the back seat, curled into a ball against the door. Dean glanced at her in the rear view mirror. God, he wished he kept more blankets in the Impala. Beside him Sam shivered too, trying to keep his great big hands warm.
Now that he thought about it, his fingers were starting to get numb from the cold too. He had to find somewhere soon... they could actually freeze to death.
"D-Dean?" came (y/n)'s cold little voice from the back seat.
"Yeah baby?" he answered glancing at her in the mirror again.
"W-When will w-we get t-t-to the hotel?" she asked through freezing lips.
"I really don't know sweet heart... with this storm I don't know where the next town is... and we are almost out of gas... I dunno what's gonna happen..." Dean felt his happiness melt, when he saw his girlfriend scared and tired expression.
"I'm sorry baby." (y/n) didn't answer. Dean kept driving... Until the engine began sputter, Dean pulled over and sat for a moment watching the snow blow in sideways from the whipping wind. Dean turned in his seat to face (y/n).
"Well... maybe the storm will lift by morning," he said. (y/n) looked unsure but nodded. Dean sighed and climbed into the backseat with (y/n). She opened up the blanket to ensconce him in its warmth combined with her own. Dean reached under the seat to get the only other blanket in the car. He tossed it up to his brother.
"Here Sammy,"
"Thanks," Sam mumbles.
No one else said anything for the rest of the night only shivered in silence... In the morning, or what they judged to be the morning, all the warmth had seeped out of the car.
The day was spent shivering, and playing childish sleep over games, but with quite voices and rumbling tummies, their original plan was to eat in the next town but they never got there... so they were all hungry. But the storm still raged...
The trio was miserable, for 2 days. But when the storm blew itself out, it was already 11 o'clock at night on the third day before the snow plow finally found the car... Stuck in the snow. Although the boys and (y/n) didn't know they had been found... They had all fallen into a hunger pain/ cold induced deep sleeps.
The plow man dug them out, and called an ambulance. When Dean woke up in the hospital, he was confused. He called out for Sam and (y/n) desperate to find them.
"(y/n)!" he screamed out. "(y/n), Sam!" nurses came running in to calm him down.
"Mr. Winchester," one of them called out above the commotion. "Mr. Winchester the man and woman in your car are alright. Please. Please relax,"
Dean breathed heavily as he fell back onto his pillows. He placed one hand over his forehead.
"Wh-where is my girlfriend and my brother?"
"They are alright; the young man is awake and recovering. And the young lady is due to wake up any minute now," the nurse said kindly.
"C-can I see her?" he asked quietly.
"I don't think it's a good idea for you to be moving around a whole lot just now Mr. Winchester. You were severely dehydrated, and your entire body was empty of processable material; food," she added in a whisper.
"Those things alone were a bad thing, but the cold, and being in a contained metal box, essentially... would have taken your life if you weren't rescued in the next few hours,"
"Well damn lady..."
She looked at him
"Can I just out of here already?" I'm a tough guy, I don't need to wait around for three days,"
"Mr. Winchester, I really don't think that you should be getting up at all,"
"Listen up lady, if I flipped my shit when I woke up, imagine how afraid (y/n) is going to be. In our line of work, we shoot first and ask questions later. I need to be there when she wakes up!"
The nurse was quiet as Dean intensely stared at her."I'll level with you. You can go see your girlfriend, if you are taken by wheel chair,"
Dean glared at her, but finally agreed. Dean hated looking so wounded in the wheel chair, but he was great for it when he stood up and his head spun a bit.
He wheeled into (y/n)'s room just as she began to wake up. He was right; when (y/n) woke up she panicked. Kicking out and calling for Sam and Dean.
"(y/n)!" Dean shouted over her, gripping her arms. "It's me. It's me. Calm down,"
Realizing that it was in fact Dean, she collapsed into his embrace.
"Next time..." she whispered "we stop before it starts to snow,"
