I don't ever ask you where you've been

 Newt was distancing himself from you, every single day, you tried to talk to him. He avoided you and he doesn’t even glance in your way. He doesn’t smile at you anymore. All he does is leave you alone every night at the look-out. That was where the both of you all started to communicate with each other. It was a tradition that lasted for months and you’ve always wanted to question him why he doesn’t even acknowledge you anymore.

 

And I don't feel the need to know who you're with

 You didn’t really bother about who he hung out with because you clearly knew who she was. It just pained you to be separated from someone who meant so much to you, who was always there for you, who always listened and that broke your heart into pieces.

 

I can't even think straight, but I can tell that you were just with her

 It had all started happening after more girls started to come up in the box. One of the greenies, Iris had gained his attention and you knew she was the one holding Newt back from being with you, or even glancing in your direction. You could always sense the tension between the both of you, especially when Newt was with Iris. It was getting to you, and realization was dawning upon you.

 You tried to ignore it. You thought he would possibly try to confront you about it too. You only found yourself disappointed yet you were stubborn, always thinking that Newt will come clean with you. You tried to convince yourself he was going to apologize. Clearly, you were acting like a fool.

 You waited for Newt as he placed the shovel down and started to head to the kitchen. “Newt,” You called out, grabbing his wrist. Newt stared at his wrist before locking his gaze with yours. “Please, can we talk?” You asked and Newt sighed before nodding his head. The both of you walked somewhere quiet, next to the maze, your grip on Newt’s wrist loosened. “What’s there to talk about, Y/N?” Newt asked. “Everything, from me to you, our friendship, our bond, what happened?” You blurted out.

“Look, I know I haven’t been talking to you lately but I don’t know, Iris…” Newt trailed off. “If you’re with Iris, there was still no reason for you to ignore me,” You shook your head at Newt who sighed. “I had to, I, you don’t know what’s going on,” Newt’s voice slightly cracked. “I’m not asking for anything, Newt, I just want us to be the same people we were once again,” You tried to reason. “It’s not the right moment, everything’s falling apart, I’m sorry Y/N,” Newt stated, his eyes glossing with tears, blinking as he walked away; leaving you dumbfounded.

 You finally return to your senses, running up to Newt. “Newt, all I’m asking for is just for us to work things out, please,” You plead as you grab his shoulders. He casually removes your hands from his shoulders before looking at you intently. “I’m sorry but I can’t, Y/N, please, leave me alone for the time being,” Your shoulders slumped as Newt turns around and continues walking. “Just a little bit of your heart is all I want and need, Newt…can’t you see?” You mumbled under your breath, unable to process your thoughts.
