For BellaNeophyton
Isabella tossed and turned. She let her thoughts wander as she inhaled sharply. Chuck was already in a heavy sleep next to her but she just couldn't bring herself to fall asleep. Her mind was crammed with thoughts of the dreams she had been having, her throat was dry and she finally gave up. Shuffling out of her hammock, she walked out of the Homestead.
She took a deep breath before perking her ears up. She heard the rustling of leaves, muffled sobs. Isabella gulped slowly, she did not intend to encounter with anything at this time of the night. Isabella took the first few steps into the Deadheads, pausing to search for the mysterious person.
Until someone caught her wrist.
Isabella pondered over crying or screaming. She does neither but instead, struggles to escape. "Stop Bella, what are you doing here?" The voice sounded hoarse and choked up. But it was still recognizable. "Thomas?" Isabella whispered. She squirmed and Thomas released his grip on her, causing Isabella to crane her head and face his tear-stained cheeks and swollen nose.
"Hey, Thomas, what's going on?" Thomas turned away, shaking his head. "I'm fine, you shouldn't be out here," He said in a hushed tone. "You shouldn't be here either," Isabella argued. She placed a hand on his shoulder as Thomas tensed up. "What do you want?" He asked bitterly. He didn't shove her hand off.
Isabella took hold of Thomas' hands, in which he reacted to by drawing in a shaky breath. He couldn't look away from her intense stare. He felt tears prick his eyes once again.
"Have you ever had that feeling that all of this happened because of us? That we were the ones who put ourselves up to this? That we deserve this? That we're all stuck here because of ourselves?"
Isabella rubbed circles between the space of Thomas' thumb and index finger. "I have these weird dreams. It's like they're telling me something. Are we really the ones who landed ourselves here? Did I do this to us?" Isabella's breath hitched.
"Thomas, no, don't even go there," Her voice cracked. "We're going to get out of here and get our answers, I don't how but we will. None of this is your fault, and I know that. We're going to find the answers we need, trust me," Isabella seemed to be trying to convince herself.
Isabella tilted Thomas' chin up, feeling the pulse in his cheek. "Just breathe, okay?" And she disintegrated. It comforted her how Thomas' breath was still shaky, the shivers that ran up both their spines.
Questions still etched onto her mind. What if Thomas was right? That he had done this to them? Isabella forced herself to concentrate on the kiss.
Thomas nodded his head once he pulled away. His fingers trailed across her arm. "Take it easy, okay, Tom?" Isabella rested her head on his shoulder.
just breathe, it'll be okay.
