She lowered her gun and watched as the beast hit the floor. A silver bullet right to the heart.
"That's what you get you nasty son of a bitch," Deanna spoke to the dead werewolf that lay in front of her.
She put her gun back in the hidden pocket of her jacket and turned to walk back to her car. She pulled out her keys and opened the door the her 2007 H2 and jumped in.
She looked at the scene around her. There were trees where the wolf had run to try and escape her, the moon that was her only source of light, and her Hummer, the only home she had really known.
Deanna was raised in the life. After her older sister was killed when she was ten, her parents packed up the life they had known and hit the road, determined to kill that monster that took her sister's life. The took Deanna and her brother with them.
Not knowing much about the supernatural, they entrusted in fellow hunter to teach them all they needed to know. Everything was going well until the group followed a nest of vampires to a remote part of Montana. Her mother never made it out of that fight. Deanna never really knew much about what happened.
She drove back down the dirt path she had used to get that deep in the woods. Once she made it back to the main road, she headed back to her crappy hotel room. This life wasn't luxurious, but it was the only one she knew.
Driving back into McCall, Idaho, she spotted a small bar off the side of the road and decided to stop.
She pulled into the parking lot of The Broken Antler and parked her baby. Looks from strangers passed by her and she couldn't tell if they were because of her car or her body.
She sat down at the bar as the bartender walked up to her.
"What can I get a gorgeous girl like you? Martini?" He smiled at her. He was handsome with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Muscles could be seen that were being hugged by his shirt and he easily could tower over her.
"Try a double shot of Fireball," she winked at him. Maybe she could get lucky tonight.
Surprised, he grabbed a glass and the whiskey and poured it for her. She shot it back and closed her eyes, letting the alcohol burn down her throat. She always rewarded herself after a hunt, no matter how small they were. After the Fireball, she ordered a beer and went on her way, leaving the bartender in the dust. She was tired and needed some rest if she was going to try to find another hunt to start tomorrow.
She jumped back into her car and headed towards her hotel. Once in her room, she dropped her keys on the end table and her body on her bed. It didn't take long for sleep to overtake her tired body.
