"What the hell is she doing here...?" You mumbled under your breath as you took tentative steps towards the entrance.
Your eyes scan the surroundings for any signs of the blonde. "Where did she go?" You hurriedly moved to the check-in counters.
—
"Damn last-minute plane tickets cost me an arm and a leg!" You quietly exclaimed as you speedwalk through the airport, moving closer and closer towards the boarding gate. You had to hurry, the plane was about to depart. Finally, you reached your destination, passed through the necessary checks and scans.
You felt all eyes were on you when you step foot into the plane. Your hand covered your face in embarrassment. The friendly steward helped you to put your hand-carry items in the compartment above you. You muttered thanks and took a seat, you scowled at the empty window seat next to you.
"I wanted that window seat..." too bad, yours was the only one that's unoccupied when buying the ticket. You were annoyed that the person who took your desired seat was late too. You thought that maybe if the stranger did not attend, you could take it.
You frown when you heard a new pair of footsteps. "Damn it... I could have sat there..." you exhaled through your nose as you buckled your seatbelt. You stared out of the window, it was a sunny day and some birds could be seen flying past.
You heard shuffling of items behind you, it must be your seat partner storing their baggage too. You continued staring out of the slightly smudged window.
"You can sit there If you want." You whipped your head to the owner of a sickly familiar voice.
"You!" Harper had a pained smile on her face. She gently wrapped a U-shaped travel pillow around your neck.
"It's a ten-hour flight, (y/n). You're going to need this." She tapped on your knees, giving you a message to make room for her to pass through. As soon as she sits down and adjusts her own seatbelt, you quizzed her.
"W-why are you here!?" You half-whispered, taking off the neck pillow and putting it on your lap.
"Same reason why you're here. I don't have a reason to be in France anymore too." You furrowed your eyebrows at her answer. Deciding to not press on that further, you look around you. There are no more empty seats. "Of course, what the hell am I even expecting..."
The stewards and stewardesses began to check if all compartments are sealed shut and if everything meets the requirements for the plane to take off safely.
Harper tenderly held your hand, you immediately swiped it away from hers and gave her a questioning look. Her lips turned into a miserable frown.
"Please? Can I hold your hand at least?" Her voice cracked a bit.
"Listen, Harper, I'm not gonna lead you on because I'm not interested being in a relationship with you." Both of you ignored the announcements of the weather from the plane speakers.
"(Y/n), I'm sorry. I promise I won't do it again, I want to, and can fix this." You rolled your eyes at her umpteenth apology.
"It's not because of what happened this morning, you're no doubt the most beautiful woman I personally know, nicest too. But, you're just not... uhh, my type." You were thrown backwards against the back of your seat as the plane starts to depart.
"Wh-why am I not your type? What can I do to be your 'type'...?"
Harper's voice has gotten quieter."It's um. Hard to explain—"
"Please, give me another chance. I'll be whoever you want me to be." Your eye twitched when tears started streaming down Harper's cheeks.
Throughout the course of an hour, you rejected her over and over as she repeatedly apologizes and begs.
You opened your mouth, about to reject her again, but then her nails were starting to dig into your skin.
