December 4th, 2020...So excited for today, I'm finally going to be getting the payback I've been waiting three years for. Calvin made it clear that his family doesn't approve of Bailey McCann but who the hell am I to deny a girl her perfect wedding?
"Heather could you come in here please?" I ask over the intercom
"Sure thing Ms. Seroni" She says professionally.
It bothers me sometimes that people only refer to me as Ms. Seroni because I don't want my peers or employees to feel inferior to me. They help this company run and if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be as successful.
As much as my father loves to take credit for my success, it isn't his.
Sure, if it wasn't for his funding I don't know where I would be, but it's the people I've hired and the hard work I've put into this company that make me who I am today.
Honestly, I don't know what I'd do without Heather, we met in college and she's been by my side ever since. She's my assistant but she has a degree in finance and handles my personal and professional books, she also handles payroll.
Sometimes I feel like my farther wishes Heather was his daughter instead of me because she—in his own words—"has a career that will go far, event planning could flop at any moment".
My mother supports me but my father has always looked down on the path I've chosen neve caring if it made me happy or is what I've prepared my whole life for.
"Mandy?" Heather calls pulling me from my thoughts
"Sorry" I sigh
"Everything okay?" She questions
"Yeah, uh, do we have everything set for the McCann consult today?" I ask
She rummages through some papers then nods
"Yep, I have it all ready along with a few set ups you can show her"
"Great thanks" I smile
