“Huh?” Emily asked. “What do you mean ‘what was I’?”

“You turned into this.....this.....this thing.......” Jaiden stammered trying to find the right way to describe it. Maddie shifted back into a human.

“Emily, what do you remember?” Maddie asked calmly.

“Well, before I fainted, I felt this really sharp pain in my stomach-” She stopped cold when she lifted up her shirt just so you could see her belly button. Instead of regular skin being there, there was a giant blotch of pure blackness. And it was slowly creeping up the rest of her stomach. Maddie put her hand over her mouth.

“Oh my gosh......” Maddie breathed. She was being possesed by a ghost! But that’s strange. Normal ghosts don’t form black splotches on the victim's body.....and visibly start to take over the rest.....Uh oh.....This could only mean one thing: She’s not being possesed by just any ghost. She’s being possesed by a living ghost. And the only living ghost I know of that’s living is a Phantom Ghost. So it’s settled.

“Emily.” Maddie said stepping closer to Emily. “You’re being possesed by a living ghost.” Emily’s eyes widened.

“What?!?! A living ghost?!?!” She shouted.

“Shhhh!!!!” Kayla snapped shooting three zombies with a crossbow. “Zombies aren’t deaf you know!” Maddie helped Emily up, and they went into an abandoned classroom.

“Well, this is just great.” Jaiden complained. They all gave him a ‘You’re not helping!’ look. Jaiden held his hands up in surrender.

“What?” He asked. They all rolled their eyes and focused back on Emily. Then Maddie thought of the cure that Joey gave her. Would it work on her? She thought. But she dismissed the thought. She didn’t wanna risk it. Emily opened her mouth to say something, but then was interrupted by a loud ‘bang’ coming from outside the classroom.

“Stay here.” Maddie said and drew her weapons. She walked slowly towards the door. She heard two pairs of footsteps. She took a deep breath, readied her crossbow, and swung around the corner ready to face whatever hit her. She almost shot, when she realized it was Ethan and Mikaila! Ethan looked a little beat up, but words could not describe how bad Mikaila looked. And not like a beat up bad, like a tired, messy haired, hobo look bad. They both threw their hands up in surrender.

“Hey! Easy! It’s just us!” Ethan said. Maddie sighed, and let them in the classroom.

“You know, a normal person would say ‘Hey! Guys! It’s us!’ or something like that!” Maddie snapped.

“Sorry!” Ethan said. Jaiden was standing guard while Kayla was examining the black blotch on Emily’s stomach. When they saw Ethan and Mikaila, they all went wide eyed.

“What happened to you guys?” Kayla asked.

“We’ll get to that. But first, we’ve got some explaining to do.”

They all sat down in a circle. It was silent for a couple heartbeats.

“Well?” Maddie asked impatiently. Ethan took a deep breath.

“When Mikaila bit me, I managed to get her away, and tried to find a cure. I found Joey’s lair, broke into his potion room, and had just enough time to get the cure for myself. When, I was out of the lair, Mikaila found me, and before she could rip my head off, I gave her the cure.” He explained.
