"But Haytham! Please don't make me go! You know I hate parties!" I cried, standing opposite my boss. "Come on, Y/N! Please! You might even enjoy yourself!" He begged. It was the annual Templar ball, and I did not want to go. Parties are not my scene at all. I had been lucky for a couple of years in the sense that I had been able to skip out on it and do something else, but this year the luck had skipped me. "I really don't want to go..." I whined. "Y/N, you're going and that's final. You've got a few days to find something to wear," he stated firmly, placing his hands behind his back and walking out. I rolled my eyes and huffed. "I can't wait..." I thought sarcastically.
I wandered the busy streets, going in and out of dress shops to find something nice to wear to the ball. Nothing was taking my eye and everything I tried on made me look weird. Eventually, I came across a deep red and black dress that hugged my figure until the waist. The skirt was long and swishy, with different pieces of material piecing it all together. I bought some new red shoes and a black cape to finish off the outfit. I was very proud of my finds, and maybe even on the verge of looking forward to going. Plus, I remembered that Shay was going and I did feel my heart skip a beat a little bit. That man was always on my mind, sometimes not for good reasons but the majority of the time it is a good reason.
Friday the 17th- the day of the Templar Ball
I sat at my desk, tapping my fingers on the wood. It was the day of the ball and I was getting nervous. I glanced at the dress hanging up on my wardrobe and back down to my desk. Getting up and going over to the vanity, I started to put makeup on and decide on which hairstyle would look best. I wasn't trying to impress anyone... well maybe I was but that's beside the point. I painted my lips a deep crimson and lined my eyelids with black liner. I dusted my cheeks with powders and then looked in the mirror. The thing looking back at me was unfamiliar. I didn't feel like Y/N anymore. I felt like a strong heroine that could kill a man in the blink of an eye. Funny thing is, I liked it. I waltzed over to the wardrobe and picked up my dress. I slipped the garments I was already wearing off and stepped into the ballgown. Twirling in front of the full length mirror, I grinned to myself. This is different.
About twenty minutes later, my carriage had come to pick me up and take me to the venue. I hopped in and sat down. The scenery outside was hidden in the dark, but the moonlight highlighted some out to me. I smiled to myself again and carried on watching the world pass by.
As we pulled up to the venue, I could see some real posh people loiter around the entrance. My carriage stopped outside the doors and I got out to take in my surroundings. It was a lot more glamorous than I had remembered from past experiences. Before I could head in, I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder. I turned to see who wanted my attention and saw Shay standing behind me. "Madame," he grinned, flashing his signature smile. "Good evening sir," I giggled, playing along with his act. "May I escort you inside?" He asked, holding his arm out to me so I could link mine in his. I blushed and accepted the offer and we both headed inside.
I could already see Haytham inside, mingling with his guests. He saw me walk in with Shay and gave me a slight smirk. "Care to dance with me, lass?" Shay asked, twirling me around before I could answer. The musicians were playing a song for slow dancing and we wouldn't be the only people dancing. "Sure," I smiled up at him, leaning my head on his chest while he wrapped his arms around my waist. "You're a tease, Cormac," I giggled
"That's what makes it fun, L/N."
As the night went on, we continued to flirt with each other. Eventually, he pulled me outside to a small patio place. "What's wrong?" I asked, confused as to why he pulled me away from the party. "It's hard to explain, but I think this might do the trick," he stated quickly, before pulling me closer and pressing his lips on mine. My body was stiff for a few seconds but I soon loosened up and fell into the kiss deeper. Before it could progress any further, he pulled away. "That explains it perfectly, Cormac," I giggled, leaning into him.
"I'm glad, lass. So does that make us official?"
"I suppose it does, love."
This was put together very quickly with an idea I had at three a.m yesterday, ENJOY
Thank you lovelies
Xx
