Are you with me?
Rain is falling down on the sidewalk
I won't go until you come outsideThe rain fell from the sky, showing no signs of stopping at anytime soon. I sat at my desk, just next to my balcony. My pencil scratched at the diary in front of me as I wrote down the next poem. Poetry was all I had at the moment. I wrote about my parents, explaining their problems with my current boyfriend, Shay, in the form of metaphors and similes. They told me he was no good for me, he'd get me pregnant then leave, he was just using me and things of that sort. I knew what we had was going to last but they just wouldn't listen. The sound of an engine came from outside and the bright headlights shone against my walls. I brushed it off as being the neighbors and got back to writing.

Kill the limbo
I'll keep tossing rocks at your window
There's no turning back for us tonightA faint tapping sound started to come from behind the curtains covering my balcony doors. I managed to ignore it for a little while, until it gradually started getting louder. Now in a slight bad mood, I got up to see who was bothering me. Before I yanked open the curtains, I looked at the alarm clock on my desk. 12:23 AM. I sighed and pulled the curtains open. Peering down onto the ground below, I saw a man in a black hoodie and black jeans standing staring up at me. He was gripping a pebble in each hand, one positioned and ready to throw at the glass door. I opened the door and made my way onto the balcony to question the man. "Finally, lass, I was ready to start throwing boulders! I didn't think you had heard me!" The man called up, his thick Irish accent filling the air. As the realization of who it really was hit me, I started to grin. "Shay!" I beamed.
"In the flesh, love."
I motioned for him to come up to see me, and so he started climbing up to meet me on the balcony.Lace up your shoes
Eh oh eh oh
Here's how we doAs soon as he got onto the balcony, I launched myself into his arms. I buried my face in his chest and breathed in taking in his scent of cigarettes and cologne. "Miss me much?" He joked, stroking my now soaked hair. "You know I did, dumbass," I said, my words muffled. We went into my room, the warmth greeting us like a slap in the face. I went over and slammed my diary shut and tumbled down onto the bed with Shay. I smiled as I turned to face him. His eyes were glimmering in the light from my desk lamp. Before I could say anything, he pressed his lips against mine. No matter how many times he kissed me, my heart would still be left racing.
Run, baby, run
Don't ever look back
They'll tear us apart
If you give them the chance"Shay, if my parents find out that you're here, I'll never be allowed to see you again!" I whispered. A small smile danced on his lips. "Run away with me, sweetheart. We could start over somewhere new!" He said, excitement flooding his deep voice. I giggled. "That's not a bad idea, Mr Cormac."
Don't sell your heart
Don't say we're not meant to be
Run, baby, run
Forever we'll be
You and meI stood up with Shay quickly copying me. He wandered over and wrapped his arms around me. "You know what they say isn't true, don't you?" He mumbles, starting to sway us gently from side to side. "I know it isn't," I whisper back, enjoying the moment while it lasts. We stood embracing each other and swaying for a good few moments, taking in the music and each other. It was times like this when I realized how lucky I really am for having a guy like Shay in my life to care about me.
