13 Rigel of the year 12974 (208 Years since Korbin's Birth)
Avalon's Pov
"Hey, Lony," Ignatius flops onto the couch beside me. He leans close enough to glance at the title of my book.
I growl.
"Don't call me that,"
"Ooh, that one's good. The—"
I push his face away from me. "Don't do that either,"
"Right, no spoilers," Ignatius leans back and places his hands behind his head. "anyway it's been a time since we've visited the summer manor and I was thinking—"
"You grab Aveyard and Hadriel, I'll find El and Carys. Meet wherever Father is," I close my book and leave.
Ignatius hollers about Korbin.
I doubt Father will let him go. He's grounded again. The last time Korbin was grounded has blurred into this one. I don't understand how he can't seem to grasp how to behave. He's 208. How can he not?
"He's grounded!"
There's a pause. "Right!"
"Why are you yelling!" Elysia yells.
I scream... and not a princely scream.
Elysia howls with laughter. Not funny. Sometimes she acts as if she's older than me. Other days like this. I shake my head. Just the person I want to see.
Elysia flashes a grin. "Why are you and Ignatius yelling at each other?"
"Discussing whether or not Father will let Korbin go to the summer manor."
Elysia's eyes widen. "He's grounded."
"That why I said if Father will let him go, but your not busy."
"Actually I am, Carys and I are planning for wintertide." Damn, I could have sworn it's Rigel? If I'm right, wintertide isn't for another 6 months. Besides, it's hot out and not snowing. It has to be Rigel. Not Atlas...I need a calendar.
"Oh."
"Next time Lony, next time." Elysia pats my shoulder and walks down the hall. I hate that nickname. It's not funny nor does it make sense. I can comprehend the correlation between Avalon and Lony, but it has no appeal.
Silently I fume and go find Father.
At one point when trying to locate Father I bump into Arthur. He's sweaty and huffing. He also has a swelling bruise on his jaw. It seems even Arthur can drop his guard and take a punch. I wonder how the other person faired.
"Don't you start,"
"I wasn't going to," I smile at Arthur. Judging by his words he lost. "Did you lose?"
"No,"
"Did the other person lose?"
"No," what? My eyebrows furrow. "Colt was called away before we could finish,"
Oh. That makes sense.
Where did Colt have to go so suddenly? Unless El needed him. But I just saw her and Colt was nowhere to be seen. Either El or Father needed him.
"Do you know who wanted him?"
"Your Father. Something about wintertide,"
"Alright, this is the second time I've heard about wintertide. What month is it?"
"Avalon you spend too much time in High Mage Brynn's study,"
"Just tell me what month it is,"
"Today is 13 Rigel of the year 12974," I knew it! Wintertide isn't for another 6 months. I'm glad I don't have to wear heavy garments to the summer manor. Besides, it wouldn't be the summer manor if we didn't go during summer.
