Yue
It only took me a few minutes to run over ZiWei's condominium unit. She lives in a quiet neighborhood two blocks away from MingDe where most of the more afluent students live. Yes... ZiWei belongs to "That Class".
Both her parents are doctors. Their family owns one of the largest hospitals here in Shanghai... reason why she's taking up Medical Technology... her pre-med course.
But here's the thing... though ZiWei believes that her calling is in the medical field, for she believes that this profession will help her contribute to the community... she had a huge passion for visual arts as well. We actually met on a photography class - one of my major subjects as a Multimedia Arts student, while she took it as an Elective course- because she loves taking and looking at pictures as much as she wants to save people's lives. She is very tenacious and domineering.... I'm telling you... she could rival my mother on the way she nags me everytime she gets worried.
While JiaQi... my BFF since kindergarten, is the laid back type of friend.
Like me, she loves to read and draw...but she loves watching films the most. She could do a movie marathon almost everyday without getting bored. She's easy to be with and is always cheerful and positive. She's also really funny and girly and is really good in giving those unsolicited advices you don't even consider needing.
She neutralizes both mine and ZiWei's personality. It's really mind boggling how she could cope up with my reclusive tendencies and ZiWei's temper... She's a really awesome person to be our friend and for being able to bear with us... considering our extremely opposite personalities.
"After forty eight thousand years... you're here at last!" ZiWei exclaimed after seeing me enter the door. She was carrying a plate full of sweet looking slices of watermelon, her hair tide in a messy bun. I took off my shoes and put on a new pair of house slippers, intended for guest, which are neatly placed at a shoe rack by the foyer.
"Sorry... I really lost track of time." I said apologetically... sitting beside JiaQi who was confortably seated on the carpeted floor infront of her laptop placed on top of the coffee table... I took out and fired up mine, placing it beside JiaQi's... who's now halfway finished on her homework... her eyes fixed on the screen.
"Yueyue... we know that it would only take you only a little effort to do this kind of homework... but you shouldn't be slacking... you know Professor Han... he has this ability to find the littlest grammatical error in our reports... what if he finds a lots of it in your work? This could affect your grades... Trust me Shen Yue.. you should take your subjects seriously. " ZiWei nagged like the mother hen that she is. As usual... I could only smile in amusement. Good thing JiaQi's here to save me from her non-stop worrying.
" Relax Wei... our Yue knows what she's doing. See... she already made four paragraphs while you're busy nagging her... please stop worrying. Let me see your work instead. I bet there are tons of errors there." JiaQi said in her usual calming voice... trying to pacify the seething ZiWei, who busied herself by eating her sliced watermelon to calm herself while she handed her laptop to Jia for checking.
"Why do you even bother attending class with us Wei... don't you get tired of attending pre-med and at the same time taking up classes from our course? You're tiring yourself. I'm telling you... you should focus on finishing Med School... your parents would be ecstatic with the idea. " I told her... my eyes not leaving my laptop's monitor... my fingers busy with the keys as I translated my thoughts into words....making a review of the book our Literature professor assigned us to evaluate. I won't even break a sweat doing this... I've read the book, five times since I purchased it. I have already memorized most of the chapters. I could seriously do this report with my eyes closed. I don't want to brag... but that's a fact.
