Yue

"Are you alright? his worried voice woke me up from my trance.

His eyes intently holding mine waiting for confirmation.

Breathe Yue. Its just Wang HeDi. Why are you so tensed?

I cleared my throat, adjusted my seat and checked myself. I feel fine.... I guess. My heart still pounding hard from what just happened, but I'll live.

My seatmate on the other hand, hesitantly returned to his seat.

"I'm okay." I answered, gradually collecting my composure back as I adjusted my glasses and pulled down my hoodie.

"Are you two alright there at the back?" Xize asked, checking out the two of us after a few moment. Probably, after making sure that Jia is okay.

"Damn you bro! What just happened? You just gave Yue a concussion." Wang HeDi said exagerratedly. Giving me a side glance. His brows still scrunched together, displease written all over his handsome face.

"Are you okay Yueyue?" My friend JiaQi asked turning her back so she could check up on me. Obviously bothered by what Wang HeDi had just said.

"Chill Bro. If I haven't stepped on the brakes I could have hit that kid running for his ball, and that could have been a much bigger problem." XiZe explained calmly. His gaze shifted its focus on me as he scanned me from head to toe, as if checking me out for any injuries.

"I'm okay. I just bumped my head a little, but I'll live. You don't have to worry too much" I said reassuringly, so that they would stop fussing over me. All these attention is making me uneasy.

The ride towards JiaQi's house is a whole lot of an awkward experience. Well at least for me and Wang HeDi. He kept to himself as we drove off. His serious gaze focused on the scenery outside. On his hand his empty plastic cup of coffee, while I on the other hand, is busily throwing him a glimpse on my peripheral vision, perplexed by his reaction from the accident earlier.

Was he really worried about me? But why should he be? Right??? Stop overthinking Yue. Well yes it was nice of him to think about your welfare, but don't you dare forget of how a jerk he can really be. And please, guard your heart. It's fluttering way to fast. Stop that! This is Wang HeDi we are talking about. He's way out of your boring league! I secretly scolded myself.

My thoughts were interrupted by an uneasy clearing of a voice... making me glance towards my seatmate who is now, to my surprise, facing me. His eyes intently focused on my face as if studying me. His expression, unfathomable. Which made me more confused.

"What?" I awkwardly asked, breaking the silence between us.

"Look... Shen Yue... uhmmm... " He said in a somewhat apprehensive expression. As if unsure of what he was about to say.

"Look Wang HeDi.. if this is about the accident earlier, I'm fine. You don't have to trouble yourself about my condition. It's just a minor bump." I answered, looking him straight in the eye to assure him that I am really alright.

"No... no... It is not about that... I... Uhm... I just want to tell you... that... I..."

"Here we are..."

Wang HeDi's speech was again cut short by his bestfriend's announcement. I noticed that Jia had already alighted the car followed by Xize who was now closing the door by the driver's seat.

"Yueyue... HeDi... Aren't you both coming in? XiZe's staying over to hang out some more" Jia asked. Urging me and HeDi to come with them inside her place.
