Blackmail

Chapter 14

I sit anxiously in the car, holding onto Alex's hand like a lifeline. He rubs my back softly and smiles at me. Dad pulls up to the gender clinic and we get out.
The door rings as I walk into the building, making me jump. Mike laughs and sits down in a chair. I sit down between Antonio and Alex. Dad goes up to the front desk and signs me in.
I take my phone out of my pocket and take a picture of the clinic and post it on Instagram. Everyone wishes me luck and I smile softly. Who would have thought that only a couple months ago I thought that I wouldn't be able to transition.
"Max?" A voice asks. A doctor stands at the door with a clipboard in their hands. Alex follows me into the room while my dad and brothers hang back in the waiting room. The doctor closes the door softly and motions for me to sit down.
I sit down on the paper covered medical chair. It crinkles under my weight. I look back up at the doctor and smile at him before putting my hand out.
"I'm doctor Irk, he/him pronouns please," he introduces as he shakes my hand. I smile and nod as he goes over to his computer and types some stuff in, occasionally asking me a question or two.
He stops and tells me the side effects and all the things that testosterone will do to me. I sit and listen patiently. He finishes and asks if I'm ready. I nod excitedly and Alex laughs beside me.
"Alright, take your pants down so I can inject it into your right thigh," he says. I roll my pants down and he takes a needle out of a cabinet. He walks over and stands beside me. I grab Alex's hand and hold on for life.
He sets the wrapped needle down on the table beside me before opening a antiseptic wipe and wiping part of my thigh. He throws the wipe in the trash and grabs the packet. He unwraps the needles
"Five, four, three, two-" he puts the needle in at two and injects the testosterone. I squeeze Alex's hand harder as he takes the needle out of my skin. He puts a bandaid over the spot and I roll up my pants.
"There you go! Next time I'll show you how to do it on your own so you can do it at home! " the Dr. Irk says. I nod and thank him. Me and Alex walk out of his office and into the waiting room.
"Max! How was it?" Dan asks excitedly. I smile and laugh. I give him a thumbs up and we walk out of the building. I run past everyone and jump to hit the top of the light post.
I get in the car and put my seatbelt on. It takes a couple minutes for the rest of them to make it to the car. Alex sits beside me in the back and Dad drives back home.
I walk inside and go to the basement. Alex follows me and grabs a drink from the mini fridge as I put Mario Kart in. I hand him a remote and we plat a couple of rounds. After he loses for the fifth time in a row he grabs his phone and texts everyone else. 
I scroll through tumblr on my phone while Alex texts the others in the group chat. I remember that I ordered something and open amazon on my phone. it says that my package should be here by now.
The doorbell rings and I run upstairs to open it. The others walk in and Cody hands me a package. I thank him and run upstairs to my room. I open the package and smile as I pull put the pride flag.
I tie it around my shoulders and walk down to the basement. I run down the stairs and in front of my friends. Alex chuckles and shakes his head. Anna and Julie take pictures while Cody and Milly sit there smiling.
I sit down beside them and I play a couple rounds of Mario Kart with Cody and Julie before Cody rage quits. Milly takes his remote and we play another round before Cody complains about being hungry.
Anna quickly agrees with him and I order a pizza before walking up the stairs. I go on google and search up a cookie recipe. I put my phone down and grab the ingredients from the cabinets while Milly gets the ones from the fridge.
I set the oven to the correct temperature and turn on some music. I dance around the kitchen and grab the rest of the ingredients, setting them all down on the counter beside Alex. He sits on the counter and watches us with a soda in his hand.
I grab a bowl from the cabinet and we mix the ingredients according to the recipe. I get the mixer out and mix the stuff together. I give Alex and Anna the blender things to lick the cookie dough off of.
Cody takes the bowl and rolls the cookie dough into balls, setting them down on the trays. I set the timer on and put the cookies in the oven. The doorbell rings suddenly in the calm of the house.
Alex gets the pizza from the pizza man and we wait as the cookies bake in the oven.  I sit next to Alex on the counter and th others bring chairs over and sit in front of us. I reach and grab a soda from the fridge.
I pop it open and listen to the fizzy sound it makes. I finish my pizza and sip my soda as the others talk about some of the classes that they're in. The timer goes off and I jump off the counter.
I grab the oven mitts and take the cookies out. The smell of chocolate chip cookies wafts around the kitchen. Cody runs up and snatches a cookie off the plate, shoving it in his mouth before I could tell him it's too hot to eat just yet.
His eyes go wide and he repeats the word hot as the cookie sits in his mouth. I cover my mouth and laugh. Milly rolls her eyes and hands him a napkin. He spits out the cookie and throws the napkin away. 
"Dang that was hot," he exclaims. I snort and face palm. I shake my head and smile as the rest of the group grabs cookies and waits for them to cool down before eating them. I munch on one smiling at how lucky I am.
