'Secret Deals'

"Why the fuck did you send them an invitation?!" Galit na sigaw ni Blu at tinaob ang mesa na nasa harap niya. Napapitlag naman si Kharis at ang pamilya niyang nasa sala.

"Dimitri!" Sigaw ng ama niya. "I-I.. I just want to be respectful. They're the royal family. They will make our engagement party look good—"

"Look good? Look good?! Putangina mo naman, Kharis!" Sigaw ni Blu.

Everyone was shocked. Dimitri Blu Van Saint, the most respectful Van Saint the north border has ever known just spat fire in front of a lady, not to mention, the lady he was going to tie the knot with.

"Dimitri, ayaw ko na sa talas ng dila mo. Tingnan mo ang empluwensiyang binibigay nung babae na 'yun sa 'yo!" Sigaw ng ama niya sa kanya pero hindi nakinig si Blu at sinipa pa ang upuan sa harap ng mga magulang niya. "At tsaka ako ang nagpadala ng invitation, hindi si Kharis kaya 'wag mo siyang sisihin." Dagdag ng ina niya.

"I agreed to this damn family tradition, but I did not give you permission to treat Zia like that. Sending her an invitation. For what? Para ipamukha sa kanya na ayaw niyo sa kanya?!" Galit na tanong ni Blu. His cousins looked at him, not wanting to get involved because he was mad as hell.

But some were by his side.

"Tita, I overheard Kharis talking to you po. She was the one who insisted to send the letters to the Wens, diba po?" Tanong ng isang pinsan na babae ni Blu.

"I get that we just need to send the invitation as a courtesy to them because we've been under their rule and protection for a long time, pero.. knowing Dimitri and the princess' relationship, why would you insist on sending the invitation? Nawala na po ba ang moral reasoning niyo dahil kinumbinsi po kayo ni Kharis?" Dagdag ng isang pinsan ni Blu.

"Why are you all making it look like you hate Kharis?" Tanong ng ama ni Blu at mahina lang natawa 'yung iba. One guy chuckled and looked at Kharis.

"See, Kharis? This is how it feels when a whole family hates you for the guy. You know how Zia feels now? So, you better stop while Dimitri is still taking it easy on you." Pasimpleng sabi nito. Pinandilatan lang ito ng ama ni Blu pero nagkibit-balikat lang ito.

"Dimitri is not taking it easy on me!" Mangiyak-ngiyak na sabi ni Kharis pero mahina lang natawa 'yung iba.

"Oh, really? Dahil lang minura ka niya? Lampa ka naman pala. Hindi bagay sa pamilyang Van Saint 'yan, gurl." Natatawang sabi nung babaeng pinsan ni Blu. Blu ruffled his hair and told his cousins to stop dahil iiyak na nga si Kharis.

Tumigil naman agad sila at tiningnan si Kharis na lumapit na sa ina ni Blu at dun umiyak.

"What is the matter with all of you? Nasisira na ang pamilyang 'to dahil dun sa mga Wen na 'yun. This is exactly why we left their kingdom. They're a bad influence!" Galit na sabi ng ina ni Blu habang hinahaplos ang buhok ni Kharis.

"Oh, tigil na mga brad. Respectful Van Saints tayo." Sabi nung isa at umupo na tsaka tiningnan si Kharis na umiiyak parin. The Van Saint cousins were sitting on the couch, cross-legged as they just watched the coming member of their clan cry.

Blu just looked at his parents.

"No, she's a bad influence." He said, referring to Kharis.

"Look what she's done to you. You're not the parents I used to know." Aniya at tsaka na umalis.
