17. S (Last Love)

     Mark took in a shaky inhale, his breath hitching right after as he tried to steady himself. His mind was everywhere, pushing itself to the limits. Stress. Anxiety. Fear. Anger. It exploded in a huge mess of colors and pain.

     They sat in silence for about two minutes before Mark decided to speak his mind. He had to collect himself. Distract his brain from the madness. He needed to gain control again.

     "Haechan-Ah..."

     "Hm?"

     "I...uh...I um..." He needed to say it. Say it! Damnit! "I-I...I love you...s-sorry..."

     Haechan giggled, going back to holding Mark's hand. It was amazing how quickly his mood could change. Minhyung awkwardly smiled, pushing his glasses back into place. He looked up at Haechan, nervously fidgeting with the couch cushion again.

     "I love you, too!" The boy then tackle hugged Mark, startling him to no end. Haechan looked at Mark to make sure he was okay, smiling. Their faces were barely inches apart.

     Mark felt all of his worries going away momentarily. For a moment everything was okay. Just for a moment, though. The first drop of hope fell onto the dry sand in his mind.

     "Mark?"

     "Uh, yeah?"

     ".....Can I kiss you?"

     "Huh?"

     "Did I stutter?"

     "N-no..I'm just shocked, is all.."

     "So I can't kiss you?"

     "Y-you can. I was just responding to your question about the stutt-"

     Haechan cut him off by kissing Mark. On the lips. Holy shit. Mark hesitantly responded, being that the other had just stolen his first kiss. It was slow and awkward, their worlds had stopped spinning completely. Haechan pulled away, smiling.

     "So...do you wanna like...be official now?"

     Mark laughed nervously, nodding his head.

     "Sure"

     They were now walking down the sidewalk, holding hands. Mark was partially hiding behind Donghyuck because he was nervous. Something about how he's worried that his friends will see him smiling like an idiot.

     "Yah, what kind of friends do you have for you to be so worried about seeing them in public with me"

     "They're just..outgoing and kinda loud...and one of them is our landlord..."

     "Doyoung-Hyung?!?! No way!"

     "Yes way, I'm not kidding."

     "Oh! Speak of the devil! There he is! Doyoung-Hyung!! Hyung!" Haechan waved towards the landlord, who was talking to a short man. The Sun ran towards him, dragging Mark behind him. "Who's that?" He points to the shorter man, smiling.

     "My boyfriend. Why does it matter to you?" The other glared at him, smiling politely.

     "Oh!! Oh!!! How perfect! ^^~ it's like a double date!!" Donghyuck placed his very nervous boyfriend next to him, ruffling his hair. Mark protested with a small squeak and a 'stawwp you're messing up my hair!!'.

     "Aw y'all are kinda cute together," Johnny said approaching the 4, a cup of coffee in his grasp. He holds a hand out to Haechan, asking for a handshake. Instead, he gets a high five. "I'm Johnny"

     "And I'm Donghyuck, but I go by Haechan"

     Johnny looks at Mark, smiling and taking a sip of his drink.

     "Oh Hi Mark"

     "S-shut up... :(" He hid behind Haechan, squeezing the other's hand twice. The group laughed at that.

     "Have you gotten your phone fixed, yet?"

     "No...D-Don't have the money..."

     "Aw man, that sucks. Yuta proposed and you didn't even know!" Johnny said loudly.

     "?????????????" Mark's eyes widened, making a small shocked noise. "You're kidding!!"

     "I'm not!!"

     "Holy shiT"

     "Yeah!! That was my reaction!"

     Haechan stayed quiet, tilting his head like a small puppy.

     "Did Jungwoo finally man up and ask that one dude out?" Mark laughed, smiling.

     "Not yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it never happened. He's super shy about this kind of stuff"

     "Yeah, I guess..."

     "How many friends do you have, Markie" Haechan messed up his hair again, joking around.

     "Too many..."

     "You can never have too many friends! I have at least...crap..." He started counting, mumbling the names under his breath. "Jaemin...Jeno...Renjun...Chenle...shit who was that other guy..? Oh! Jisung! 5!"

     His boyfriend shrugged at that, not really interested.

     "Anyways, don't we have somewhere to be?"

     "Oh! Right! Bye Doyoung-Hyung! Bye Doyoung's boyfriend! Bye Johnny!" Haechan yelled, running off, Mark running after him shortly after. "TO THE CARNIVAL WE GOOOOO!!!!"
