A manipulation/cover made for a contest held by thelightbender

This has been a bit of a race with time, since I read Angelina's post more than a bit late. Me being late to stuff is a trend recently, but oh well. It's under moments of pressure that one feels most alive. At least, that's what I like to think.

The task has been to create a manipulation that represents our view of the word 'borealis'. My thoughts immediately went to northern lights and the very, very pretty colors. Since northern lights appear in places that scream Santa Claus and mooses and fluffiness (basically, all the things that represent wonder and something magical), I tried to capture that idea in this manipulation.

Didn't manage to recreate the colors of the northern lights; I tried to, but it looked very weird with the theme I went for (I had couple of colors on there, it looked very chaotic)

Didn't manage to recreate the colors of the northern lights; I tried to, but it looked very weird with the theme I went for (I had couple of colors on there, it looked very chaotic). So I went in the direction of winter and stuck to one color. Cutting the lynx out gave me a light headache because I just couldn't cut out the ear fluff on top. Ended up cutting the hair out separately, which is why it might look slightly off.

I went brush hunting and I am very happy with what I've caught. Bokeh brushes turned out to be a nice little touch and the frozen border adds a bit to the overall atmosphere.

This cover made me very happy because while stock hunting I got to enjoy loads of kitty cat pictures, and lynxes are really adorable.

( such a baby, just look at that cute tiny roar/big yawn!!!! )

What are your thoughts? :)

{  I'll use this opportunity to shamelessly promote myself and say that I've opened up a book where I could rant and talk some more. It'll mostly be about school and college, so if you're interested in that (or just want to vent some stuff yourself; or connect with some folks over the good stuff/faults of the school system), feel free to hop over to Black-Eyed Susan.  }
