I pulled away in horror at what I had done.
Your wolf and I will be taking a backseat to this now. If things get to the worst they can be... then we will intervene. But it is time for you to learn your place the hard way.
The large wolf sighed before looking once more to the scene on the field.
Your full abilities will be unlocked. He paused again. He turned away and gave me a slight glimpse of black on his fur. Expect changes the further down this path you go. Good luck.
I continued backing up as the wolf slowly vanished. I took advantage of the pause in time and ran. My eyes darted between the placid world, awaiting the moment the trees took motion.
What do I do? Where do I go?
I can't go back home now.. not after this. I need time to think, clear my head, and make a game plan.
I took a risk and ran back to the waterfall as the world came to life once more. The trees lightly waved in the breeze, the sound of birds, and the pleasant hum of the nature world filled my ears. And soon enough, I could hear the soft rolling of the falls.
As I neared the water, I began to feel a weight pulling me down. My chest felt completely ignited and my mind shook. I used my dwindling strength to jump into the cool water and head for behind the falls. The rushing water pushed me down under the surface as I worked so hard to stay above. I kicked my legs as best I could and managed to find some footing to pull myself the rest of the way. I collapsed on the small bit of land and shifted to human.
I faintly looked up to the top of the cavern as my breathing hitched. I moved my hands to scratch and pull at my chest, wanting to make this pain go away. To dig my way, and rip it out. Tears slipped down my face and I ground myself against making any sounds. I let my hands fall, and my head drooped to the side as my last bit of strength left me.
Staring blankly at the falling water, my mind was filled with ravenous thoughts of brutality and bloodshed. Images of battles and wars, with wolves torn across the once green fields. But these wolves were different.. They still held many of the colors that occupied this pack, but this time there were white wolves. White wolves that adorned metal masks and helmets, white wolves that had patterns of vibrant colors painted onto their coats.
There was one wolf that stood out among the masses.. he seemed so familiar. Black patterns and a metallic black piece sat upon his head with a brush or a red. His eyes were like the warm embers of a fire.
The images were shifting again.. no longer was I just an onlooker. I occupied the eyes of one of the warriors.
The world began to play around me, growls and snaps of the jaws filled the air. I tried to move, but I wasn't in control. I was a witness to a past event that had occurred. The body jumped toward another wolf, meeting them in the air with a strong bite. The positioning was impeccable. Just slightly lower than the enemy allowing for a perfect view of the neck. I could taste the blood of the enemy wolf in my own mouth, and the rush of adrenaline filled my body. I longed to fight in such a primal manner.. to have such free will. This wolf wasn't caring for the wellbeing of the enemy.. it viewed them all as beneath him. Even his own teammates he growled and barked orders at.
No. This wolf didn't need protecting.. he was so much more than a pathetic little dog. He was the one they all feared. Why can't I be like that? I've been pushed around so much during my lifetime. I'm ready to take it back and live my way, to punish those who have wronged me.
I've been beaten, raped, scorned, and berated. I was kidnapped by an enemy pack and made to be the pet of a hybrid witch. What else will happen if I stay with this pack? After what I've done today I'm going to be on an even shorter leash than before.
I will not stand for that.
I will think of a plan in time. For now, I must keep it under wraps and learn more of my abilities in secret. Even now as I lay here unconscious, reliving the events of a past wolf.. I feel the power surging inside me. Snapping and sparking, bringing back the lust of being the reaper in such a brutal manner.
The scene continued to play on, with the wolf ravaging the enemy with not an ounce of remorse. He paused for a moment and looked around at the scene before him, before looking to the ground. I saw the faint glimpse of black paws before it all vanished.
I was once again staring blankly at the falls. My heart rate gradually slowed to a normal pace and the pain in my chest was replaced with the subtle stings from my clawing.
I laid there till the light had faded and the world was nothing but a calm dark night. This world was filled with so much life.. the sound of crickets and the croaks of frogs. I felt completely at peace now, with myself and what I was made to do.
I pushed myself up from the rough floor, being careful not to rush. I needed to get back to the pack house now, or I fear they will send out search parties. For all they know I could have run off on a killing spree and gained the red eyes from the flesh of humans.
I allowed my body to change again, my eyes shifted to better see in the night. I carefully waded into the cold water and out past the falls. The night sky caught my attention as I climbed out of the water. The sky lacked thick clouds and instead was vibrant with the flickering of the stars and the round full moon.
Oh goddess, why have I been forsaken by this life?
It's time to get back. My wolf's voice sounded so foreign. It had been a few days since he last spoke, and I could feel the tension between us.
I agreed with him nonetheless and began trotting back toward the pack.
My speed began picking up as I felt free for the first time in so long. A weight had been lifted from within me, and I no longer felt burdened by my wrath. I was embracing it.. I could use it to get whatever I wanted!
I howled out into the night as I neared the pack house. I heard shouting coming from ahead, probably suspecting I was the enemy.
I broke the tree line and slid to a stop in front of a small crowd of pack members. Jason and Raven stood at the front with Seth and Ash slowly coming out of the house.
Jason walked forward, looking me up and down. His face contorted as he froze on something. I followed his eyes and looked down to my paws. The white fur on the tips of them was no more. Replacing it was a coal black patch.. small but still noticeable against the contrast of my normal fur.
"What is going on with you?" Jasons voice was low.
Guess we're doing this here. I shifted to human and pushed up to stand.
I stalked forward toward my mate with glaring eyes. "I refuse to train with that embarrassment of a wolf. If you want to prevent anything further from happening then Ash does not train with me." I growled. My eyes looked past Jason and to the fearful ones of Ash, who was pressed against a seething Seth.
I laughed at his expression and gestured out to him. "See! He's terrified! The whole reason we even escaped in the first place was because I killed the guards. He could only kill one!"
"Enough!" Jason snapped.
My eyes darkened as they met with Jason once more.
"I do not take orders from you." The voice was unlike my own, it held the authority from those many times before. Jason stepped back and looked at me with his mouth agape.
I stepped past him, and the crowd of pack members split to allow me passed. I walked with the air of the wolf on that battle field. Wearing the metal crown, and taking the lives of those unworthy. I held my head high and kept my eyes focused on the open door.
It seems that playing nice will never get you what you want.. You need to man up and take it.
If this pack wants to view me as the enemy, then so be it.
I will be thy enemy.
