Hey. Prepare to hate me and Jonah, and the new characters.  This book, after this chapter, has only like 8 chapters left.  If you like this book, I recommend 'Trapped' by sodamnrad.  It's SUPER good!  Point of view will be switching around.

(JAYLENS POV)

So Lane and I are a thing now.  Last night we were texting and made it official.  He's super protective, so when I started crying today at the beach, I wasn't surprised he pounded that guy's face in.

I look at Carina, my heart going out to her, as she trembles in my twin's hold.  This was supposed to be a relaxing day, but something tells me it will only get worse.

I text this to Jonah, watching as he reads it. I don't why, but I normally get these gut feelings, and I'm not normally wrong.  My brother grimaces before turning his phone face down.

After Tim drops off Hayden, Noah, Ellie, and Brooke, he drives to Lane's house.  I get out as well, and walk him to his front door.

"Thank you for beating his up." I whispered shyly.  Lane chuckled, bring me in for a hug.
"You're welcome, Princess. I didn't like seeing you upset.  I've had a crush on you since you and your brother arrived." Lane replies, kissing my head.

"I've had a crush on you for almost that long. My last boyfriend abused me, so I'm taking a leap of faith." I replied, telling him my secret.

He tensed. "If I ever meet him, Princess, I make no promises."

"I know. I have to go, Lane. We can text though. Bye." I say, pulling away.  I dash away, and enter the limo that now holds just my family. Tim is like an uncle, and Carina is positively my sister.

We pull down our long driveway and I groan when I see Aunt Joan's car. That means my cousin, Samantha, is here.  She's head over heels for my brother, and is the typical snotty rich kid. It should be amusing to see her reaction to Carina.

"Hey Carebear?" Jonah asked.  Carina looked at him. She had stopped trembling, but her eyes were a little haunted.

"My cousin is here.  If you would like, I can talk to my mother and you can be excused for the night." He suggests.

Carina shakes her head. "I'll be fine." Jonah looks as if he doesn't agree, but says nothing as he helps her out of the car.

(JONAHS POV)

I know Samantha will be too much for Carina.  Especially in this state. I also think Mom and Dad need to know about what happened. The jerk could have been responsible if Carina got seriously injured.

As a group, we walk to the door, and mentally prepare ourselves for Aunt Joan's and Samantha's overbearing personalities.

"My beautiful niece and nephew! And others." Aunt Joan trailed off when she saw Carina.  "Honestly, Jess, I thought she'd be prettier."

I bristled, but I knew Aunt Joan couldn't help but criticize something about everyone. If they weren't blood, they weren't perfect.

"Mom, be nice.  I'm sure this is just temporary." Samantha says.  "Hi, I'm Sam, Jonah's future wife."

Carina shakes my cousin's hand. "Nice to meet you. I'm Carina, Jonah's girlfriend."

Sam pales, a brief look of annoyance passing through her emotions. "Well isn't that fine and dandy." She says with her southern accent.

"Jonah, Jaylen.  Why don't you take Carina and Samantha to the game room." Mom suggests, not asking.  We nod and I place an arm around Carina and lead her to the game room.  Jay and Sam follow.
