(CARINAS POV)

I groan groggily as my old phone rings.  No one should even be calling this early.  It's three am.  Velma and Javier are asleep, and the only other people who aren't blocked on this phone is the police officer who is assigned to me.  But why would he be calling?  Did Andrea get out?  My heart started pounding as I reached for my phone.  Sure enough it was the police officer.

"Hello?" I answered nervously.

"Ah, Miss Davis.  Forgive me for calling so early, but I had to speak to you." Officer Wilson said.

"Is everything okay?" I chewed on my bottom lip nervously.

"Yes.  The court wants your approval on a privilege for Mr. Doug Waters.  For his good behavior, he requested that he gets to see Levi.  Of course, if you say no, that will be all that happens." The officer informs.

"Can I call you back in a little bit?" I ask, my voice wavering.

"Of course, Miss Davis.  The sooner the better.  He wishes to see him today, as it's privileges day." Officer Wilson explains.

"I'll call you back momentarily." I promised, hanging up and taking a deep breath.

I wanted to protect Levi, but I'd feel terrible if someone kept me away from Levi.  I sighed.  I still don't trust Doug.  How could I?  But I don't want Levi to later become angry with me because I kept his father at bay.  I call back Officer Wilson.

"He can see him.  But I have to be there.  If I feel unsettled at any point, he leaves." My voice is steady, my mind determined.

"What time would you like this to happen?" He asked.

"Noon. It gives me enough time.  Mr. Waters does not enter until I'm there and I say that we're ready." I reply.

"Understood.  Thank you for your time.  I hope Waters doesn't do anything to make you regret your kind decision."  With that, the phone is hung up, and I try to go back to sleep. No such luck.

After laying in bed for an hour and a half, I decide to get up at five and make a huge breakfast. I pad into the kitchen, finding the fridge and pantry stocked with everything I need. I put my earbuds in and get to work, dancing to the music.

By seven, the kitchen was filled with waffles, pancakes, crêpes, bacon, eggs, cut fruit, and toast. Cameron and Natalia walked in just as I finished.

"Carina, you didn't have to cook us breakfast, much less a whole freaking restaurant menu." Nat said.

"Alright, Baby Sis. What happened?" Cameron asked, knowing I cook big meals when I'm stressed.

"Well. You and I are going to see Levi." I start. Cameron relaxes. "With Doug." My brother's eyes turn murderous at the last part of my statement.

"You aren't going anywhere near that bastard." He growls. "And my nephew isn't either."

"Cam, please. You and I will be there, the police officers, and Velma and Javier as well." I try and reason.

"Dang it, Car. Can't you not be so selfless?! He raped you and you're still letting him in your life!" My brother starts to pace. I look at Natalia with pleading eyes.

"Cameron, I think it's a good idea." Nat said, approaching Cam.

"You too, Nat? It's not a good idea! He's trash and he hurt you Carina." Cameron fumes.
